As far as the PvE PvP thing goes, it's already done. Unless you want them to say make something work in a completely different way between the two. Which I doubt will happen, they have defined roles for things so that's not changing. --------That is unless it's an exotic weapon which has it's own special role. Otherwise you are asking them to basically make twice the game. Having them improve the PvE experience is another matter, and something I'd like as well. They have the ability to do it it's just a matter of doing so.

I am primarily a PVE player myself, which is why I asked for a more dedicated separation of PVP and PVE. With all the cries for nerfs and such, I would just like it if said nerfs to weapons and subclasses applied to PVP and a code was implemented to do so. Might I ask how they've already done they've done this? If I missed a detail concerning this it'd great to know! But yes, as a PVE player I feel most content post DLC release has been designed strictly for PVP players and with only one raid to run with gear that applies to high level play this isn't a lot of fun for us...Especially when the rewards are so borked.

  • How I know they're able to separate PvE and PvP are the shotgun changes. Back in the start of year 1, you would have to 4 shot an Oracle with Invective (true example), later they had modified the shotguns PvE damage output by 100% (doubled it) which allowed you to 2 shot an Oracle with Invective. Recently, they had changed them to do 45% (close to halved the current damage) less damage in PvE which now put them back at having to 4 shot the Oracles with Invective. None of these changes had affected PvP, intentionally or not.

I believe it was last year, maybe October, that they fixed the issue. Not sure on details, to the point where I'm questioning myself. I can try to dig for the information if you'd like. Though regardless I'm confident that it's no problem now, as there's plenty of evidence suggesting as much. For example, the recent patches have included increased damage to AI on weapons to compensate for their changes. They have also adjusted health pools on strike bosses. Which I wouldn't think it much of a stretch to say they can do that to all AI. Then there are the perks that only function in PvE. Though they seem to only be this way because of their required interaction with AI. I'd argue that it's not limited to this. However it's more of a lack of effort towards more PvE only perks. There's also the ammo economy, how much you get from perks and such. --------That covers anything you can change in PvE, other than how a gun plays of course. Like a shotgun sniping, which I doubt you're getting regardless of whether they separate the two more strictly or whatever. Though I think it's completely possible with exotics, but only through that. Besides all of that PvE could be way better I do agree. I don't mind PvP balance and overall improvement of play in that space, but I'd like attention to that in PvE also.

  • Ah, thank you both informing me of this. I knew some changes were made to PVE damage but I thought they were minimal. That being said, I still agree PVE could use some adjustments and focus as much PVP. Does anyone know if they a separate team who deals with PVP balance and one that deals with PVE? Or do you think it's the same people?

  • Firstly I'll say it seems I embellished my point about PvE separation. I looked for the update, and couldn't find a clear indication of them fixing that problem, or that it ever was a problem. Though I did find similar things about changes to AI damage and the like back in the games launch. I might have thought I saw it due to the controversy revolving around the Vex Mythoclast. I apologies for that. As for if they have separate teams, I can't say for certain. Though I'd think they do at least think about it on some level. Having the game allow you to take your character and gear in any play space and have it fill expectations would ask as much. Though of course we are here because we may not appreciate the level they are doing it at.

  • No worries, I must say it's just nice to have a civilized discussion and debate in the feedback section without everyone mudslinging each other for a change. Maybe because of everyone being more civil, ( and the fact it's trending, which I must thank everyone who supports this thread) Bungie will look at it and consider what I am saying?

  • It is nice, though I wouldn't worry about bungie not looking at it. Though I believe it was said they do look for the trending stuff most often, for understandable reasons. Other than pointing out the balance thing I was going to comment on the exotic level scaling in the kiosk. The idea was it would be imbalanced because you could just buy them to level gear. Then I got to thinking about how you need quite a bit of marks to do that anyway and figured that's actually fair. So yeah your ideas are reasonable and plenty of people echo these things. Hopefully bungie does use it as inspiration.
