Black Ops 3 missed so many opportunities; spoiled so much potential...
Let me get this out of the way first: Black Ops 3 [b]looked good[/b] and had an interesting concept. My girlfriend bought it for me and I decided to give it a go.
I've played every CoD up through Ghosts. I was absolutely disgusted with Ghosts and sold it back to GameStop a week after purchasing it (I should have just returned it and said it was defective; I got pennies on the dollar).
I passed on Advanced Warfare after how bad Ghosts was. Now I figured Black Ops 1 and 2 were okay so I'd maybe give 3 a try. It definitely sounded fun; augmentation and such. It had a Deus Ex vibe to it.
Turned out to be nothing like it should've been (And I saw this coming).
What happens in the Campaign: You start as a normal human, get completely ripped apart on a mission, and your limbs get replaced with augmentations and robotic limbs. You become a robotic super soldier.
What should have happened: You start as a normal human, decide to get augmentations slowly throughout the story. Choose your augmentations. Work your way to becoming a super soldier.

Okay fine. Then what about Multiplayer? How about we have you create a soldier from a few simple options such as gender, overall facial structure, hair color/style, etc. Then as you level up, you can spend points on new augmentations to give you various advantages such as sprinting faster, jumping higher, wall-running, flinch less, etc. etc...
Instead, somebody decided everyone should play as one of about 10 different "heroes" or "operatives" or whatever they call them and they all have cheesy call signs. All the cool aesthetic gear you unlock can only be used with the appropriate character. Why would I want to play as some character with 4 other of the same character running around the map with me?
All in all, Call of Duty continues to -blam!- up year after year. If it's not multiplayer gameplay, it's somewhere else.
Gameplay is interesting with the thrusters and enhanced mobility but CoD has proven they don't know what they're doing when it comes to sci-fi. They need to get back to their roots.
[spoiler]My conclusion: Call of Duty is now [b]made[/b] for 12 year olds who think they're cool because they play M rated games and keeps the M rating for that very reason and to boost sales with adults.[/spoiler]

And if you actually read, which I realize some of you didn't, I'm not ripping on gameplay itself. I'm saying they missed out on an opportunity to have a new and unique progression system. Gameplay itself is [b]fun[/b].
[spoiler]You guys realize I'm basically just calling perks "augmentations", right? They'd serve the exact same function. I merely suggested re naming perks to augmentations and giving each perk/aug a different visual representation such as a robotic arm or robotic legs as well as allowing you to customize the look of your character and everyone is losing their minds.[/spoiler]

The Player died from the surgery after the training sequence. The player's subconscious took over Taylor'd body like a virus through his DNI. You play as Taylor in the last two missions. Although what is real in these missions is not really known.[/spoiler] And you get to upgrade and get new abilities from 3 or 4 certain ability types.

I read the whole post, and it seems like you're saying you don't like it because of specialists. I understand not liking them, but how can you say the whole game sucks just because rather than customizing a character from scratch, you're given the option of customizing 9 characters who have distinct looks? You're augmentation ideas are literally perks. It would be cool if perks changed your appearance, but it's a tad ridiculous to say the game is terrible because it lacks that feature. All in all, you say nothing about the gameplay, just the customization. In my opinion, the customization is great, each specialist has 15 heads and bodies, allowing for many different looks. Guns have tons of camos, as well as paint shop which lets you create your own camos. So I don't see why you say customization sucks, or why that makes the game terrible for you, but I respect your opinion.

Have to say. Compared to Black Ops 1 & 2, this one sucked. The whole thruster thing is meh but personally, AW was better. I'd rather have dashing backwards/forwards/sideways or even boosting up and slamming down than the thruster movement in BO3. Also, the specialist system is so pointless, why does every game feel the need to add in "supers" or something of the sort. Honestly, I had more fun on Ghosts, though I played clan v clan mainly, so I never had the full experience of public matches. Black Ops 3 was disappointing, not because it wasn't upto the same standard of Black Ops 1 or 2 but that it feels worse than Ghosts and AW. Looks like Battlefield is the FPS game for 2016.

You let you're expectations get the best of you. That's what went wrong. Look at Fallout 4. People were expecting a god tier game... And many said it was terrible (even though it's a great game).

Campaign is meh at best but the 4-player co-op is the most fun i had playing a game. Zombies is amazing again The game is fun as hell, better than AW's retarded jump thrusters and ghosts mediocre features.

You know your character is actually in a coma for the rest of the game after he gets ripped apart? In the Intel you will see that the whole story mirrors missions Taylor has gone on.

That would literally be Deus Ex. Visceral already mocked them with how closely the game's story was to their reboot. With how you explained the campaign even the gameplay would be nearly identical.

Do not forget about "nightmare mode" that has got to be the most pathetic excuse for a zombie campaign done to date.. I passed on MW3 too, looks like I'll be ignoring the black ops franchise as well.

But it does feel little bit off as a Call of Duty game because of the wall running and the specialists, other than that though I would say it is a pretty good game when its not lagging

No cod will ever be perfect. Activision wouldn't allow it. If it was, then they'd have nothing to change for the next game. But as cod goes, this is definitely the best one since bo2

BO3 has an interesting story, although I was lost for a little while around the beginning. I think the primary downside (in my opinion) was that the locations lacked some more memorable areas and set pieces, and after a while sort of blended into each other a little too much. I only play SP in COD, btw.

1 ReplyI disagree with your opinions/statements on the game. I find it rather enjoyable and I understand why they want you to choose from one of the nine/ten specialists. It's essentially the same concept as destiny and allows players to be somewhat distinguishable in what they are capable of on the battlefield

15 RepliesTotally disagree, I've hated Cod since Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 3 is great. Best Cod in years. Weapons are balanced, I've never seen so many different weapons being used. The mobility is just right, not like that abomination that was Advanced Warfare. I'm 33 btw, not 12 as you're suggesting in your post.

1 ReplyYou knew exactly what to expect from the beta and the trailers, don't give me that bullshit about Treyarch not doing good, it's just like saying Crash Bandicoot should've had Cortex be a friendly but they lied and forced you to fight him and make him a friendly, imo, getting your arms ripped off (that was it) was very interesting and scary to me, then the next level, you go through a simulation to learn the different abilities, after that, a virus begins to take everyone over and you have to stop it, this is one of the best CoDs since MW2 is what I hear a lot of people saying, and you can expect the specialist in multiplayer if you played the beta, also, the zombies is once again amazing, now you can pack a punch a gun again for half the price to get a perk on it (blast furnace, firework, turned, dead wire, thunder wall), along with all the new gumballs to give everyone a new experience, overall, you knew what to expect and you done researched the wrong game

7 RepliesWhat you're suggesting wouldn't work in multiplayer because people that played more would have a significant advantage over newer players. It's not usually fun when you get into a game late and you can't kill people because they've been playing longer.

Nobody forces you to play cod if u don't like it then good for u. Other people have different likes and dislikes and certainly they will not quit just because you don't like the game, Obiously cod isn't for u anymore so leave it as it is and go play wtever game(s) entertain u. Saying 12 year olds play it to look cool etc... You're using 12 year olds to support your statement since everyone uses them on every complain they have is to make themselves to be part of the crowd, part of the "cool" 20+ year olds who thinks they're mature enough to criticize a generation that's still growing up.
