I have recently joined a fireteam during the Oryx challenge with an EXCELLENT fireteam system. This system is harsh but proves to be very effective.
The fireteam finds 6 gaurdians regardless of light level and items equipped. There is only ONE rule. You -blam!- up your done. Each player was given 2 or 3 chances depending on how the ef up happened.
Of course if the ef up was an accident, that player would be given another chance. However, if a player could not execute a job he or she was supposed to execute, and that job could have been executed by any other person on the fireteam,, that ef up would count as a strike to getting their ass booted.
The reason why this is so effective is because it gives everyone an incentive to execute their part and pick up their own weight. If one player on a fireteam does not execute, that player is essentially holding back the rest of the fireteam. This system also recycles gaurdians to keep the existing decent gaurdians in, the trash gaurdians out, and new potential good fresh newcombers a chance. Eventually the fireteam would consist of 6 very skilled individuals who will ultimately beat the challenge
As said by datto, the raid is meant for hardcore teams with chemistry or the drive to win and for skilled players. It is not meant to be easy and be beaten by just anyone. Similar to trials, people who just want to -blam!- around should have a team with similar mindsets. If one guy wants to get the job done, that guy would most likely try to find players who want to be a little more serious about the matter.
I understand that this is a game, but in the end, if you are willing to help another player out then completely disregard this system. You are a very nice person if you decide to help sherpa lower skilled players out. However, if you just want to get the job done, then consider this system.
Personally, I am tired of the light level requirements, and the weapon requirements. I do not have ToM so you can imagine how many groups booted me from their firemteams. With this system emplaced, I have a chance regardless of wearing a quick res helm and a hand cannon for hard mode challenge oryx. This system may seem cold, but it makes sense. No one wants to be playing on Oryx for more than 3 hours. As I previously stated, I found a group with this system. They saw my gear but decided to just give me a chance. However, since I didn't -blam!- up at all, I wasn't kicked. Within 2 or 3 try's we managed to beat Oryx challenge mode and get the rewards.
edit: I do not play very often, I do not grind TF out of this game as some people do ,because sometimes it's just too much and I see no worth in investing so much of my time for something that's boring. (ToM quest is not fun... waiting a day for a charge, is a vibe killer, waiting a week for antiquated boss is also annoying) And, this is coming from a casual, a normal guy who has and can beat the oryx challenge mode in relatively less time because of the players I choose to play with.
edit 2: The truth is, I don't want to be spending a lot of time on destiny. Destiny is fun, but if you play it too much, it gets overly repetitive and ultimately frustrating. If I am not doing any good for the raid, I would voluntarily back out so that I do not waste anyone's time. That is the purpose of this system... It's not as simple as just boot the guy, as some people are assuming...
Step 1: Run a few attempts to get a feel for Oryx CM
Step 2: Beat It
If the raid group cannot beat it look for the issue and try to fix it. As a last resort if you told a person to do a job, switch that players job with another player. If that same player is still messing up, at that point I would call for the boot, and find a replacement.
If someone isn't doing their job, that player is essentially getting carried. If you are okay with carrying others, you are a saint. On the other hand, if you want to just beat it, It would be easier if you found people who can do their job! The raid is a co-op and a heavily team based game mode. If the fireTEAM does not play like a TEAM the run won't make as much efficient progress. The guys doing the most work will eventually tire out and start screwing up themselves.

Bahaha, this isn't an excellent breakthrough with fire team mechanics; this is how to be a dick and not have patience. Raising is hard with a solid team some weeks - why would expect randoms to be perfect?
-
A true leader will encourage his team mates as opposed to threaten to kick. Good morale is far superior to any other way to raid. Shit happens sometimes if you beat each other up you will lose patience very quick Yesterday completed the oryx challenge first attempt sure it was a good team but we communicated well all through the raid and organised who would do what... Went down to a tea. Experience is nice but if your willing to admit your not sure what to do it can be very easily explained. People only need to know their role... All challenges are very easy if you ask me... Only thing to mess us up is Bungies glitches imo designed to feign difficulty (more probably the lack of dedicated servers)

Tried challenge mode with a group of guys who bitched and argued and blamed each other. Wasn't working, wasn't having fun. So I bailed. Tried challenge mode a few hours later with very relaxed and patient group, and we nailed it on the second attempt. When people act like asshats, it's not even worth doing.

Edited by G4League: 12/18/2015 8:07:20 PMThis system is really not a good idea. The idea behind being a Sherpa guardian is to provide a calm and time-efficient way to teach other guardians in a "professional" manner. It does take patience and time, when someone "new" f's up I don't rage at them or anything. I encourage them to keep going and if they did a good job I tell them "that's exactly how it should be done." This system that datto is proposing is gonna give a lot of stress and more bitching than usual. That does not promote a good team effort. It just produces more stress.

The problem with this process is it negatively hurts the community and limits new entry, thus shortening the games lifespan (people play less or they play less with you). As an anecdote: you can only go to college of you have a ph.d., only lawyers should go to lawschool, only being hired for experience on your first job. This system also sounds very biased. "Well he is my friend so give him an extra 3 tries." And if it is not the case, you weaken that relation further and no one will offer their time next time. I see this argument more than i should: "all my friends already did their raids so i can't do mine." Or "everyone is either busy or isn't joining." Take those extra tries to see whats wrong with a team or individual, and then fix the problem. Either help them or teach them a better way to execute. Just yesterday i was told about someone who thought running into the teleporter is how you get teleported. And plenty of times, my first try raid groups have those off days where the smallest, none related things keep happening. You say the stress and strictness motivates, but what if those people were kicked because their anxiety of being kicked made them anxious, and then depressed, and then reinforced because of this imposed self-fulfilling prophecy? What if next time you have an off day on your free day and never get to attempt the raid that week or month again? Compassion goes a long way my friend. Farther than this one particular raid.

I see this wasting more time than a normal run.
-
How the hell was I suppose to read all that before making a comment?
-
Fireteam leader keeps messing up. How ya gonna boot him? Oh its ok if he messes up but not for others?. Hypocrites. What other bullshit I gotta put up with? Had a guy who died on every platform (wiped 5-6 times) yesterday. Finally moved him to do ogres. One titan with blessing and a hunter on ogres, everybody else helped with ogres and we got it done first try.
-
It seems to me like you could spend a lot of time looking for extra people if you boot someone when they mess up
-
*sips water*, tl;dr
-
Bump for later
-
Whoever was OP had to have F'd up multiple times, meaning OP should've gotten boot.
-
I stopped reading when the Datto quote came in, but I will say this. I've only completed the raid with lfg groups, and completed the normal challenges with them.
-
Better yet, just kick everyone and do it by yourself, since you're so great and all... :/
-
I gave up reading as soon as you said Datto.
-
Yes I hate spending way more time on something that should be relatively easy, think totems, but it's all part of the experience really. I will sometimes be the guys saying "WTF" loudly on the mic but 9.9/10 I will stay in and try to help. At this point I would not call myself an expert (being able to run relic with all characters is a huge criteria, one I don't have) but I know and have completed the hard raid several times, but I wouldn't have gotten there if it were not for the patience and kindness of others. No one goes into a raid knowing what to do, no matter how many videos they watch. But one thing I did before I ever started the raids was to get black spindle and ToM. No reason not too really.

"Holy 3 of a Kind BATMAN!!!!"
-
Warlock scrub. I'd boot you just for having 3 warlocks.
-
3 warlocks, each one a sunsinger, each one running fireborn. You have some real balls to promote a system based on people getting kicked if they die.
-
What happens if you mess up because of somebody else but is not doing their job when it's not always apparent of that other person isn't doing the job
-
Hmmmmm... - OP gets excluded from groups because he doesn't have ToM and won't put the effort in to get it. - OP devises cruel system to exclude people from his raids by booting after a couple of mistakes, until he gets a group good enough to carry him through the challenge. Yeah, okay. TTK has been out for months, there's no excuse not to have ToM anymore. You don't even need the CoO ones now that challenge modes are out because you can get 47 fragments without CoO tier 3. Between a couple of tier 3's, a couple of challenge modes, and all the other easy to get fragments you could have had it by now. I have a busy life too, I work shift work and have a wife and house to take care of. I made it a point to devote time early in TTK to collect fragments and get ToM. It didn't take long at all. You can sit around and make excuses or you can get it done.
-
If you boot the people who arent as good and die f up every now and then, how do they get the challenge mode done?
-
2 things 1. Honestly this raid isn't that hard. Just find a team where people explain clearly if needed. 2. Avoid those ridiculous requirement groups anyway. If they are asking for something stupid that group sucks so don't waste your time.
-
I rather have something like, if your whole team dies, you go back in progress, 3 team wipes is a reset
-
I have been bounced from fireteams when I have done nothing wrong. So this would be a retarded practice mainly cause it would just promote kicking for any given reason.
-
Or you could just go outside
