Is a 3.0 gpa good?

Is it? Im a sophomore in high school and I'm wondering if I'm doing ok. I study every day but I also play games.
Ninja edit:
This thread has been moved to the #Off Topic forum. • Ya a 2.0 gets you 75,000$ dollar a year job... Not the best but most manage on around 50-80,000$ a year

    • Not bad, gpa is really important in high school, but not as important in college unless you plan to go to grad school

    • 3.0 is good if you have other things going. Work and sports, girls, etc. don't burn out trying for a 4.2 ap classes. Funny my valedictorian sells real estate now. Me with my 3.5? Got my masters in pharmacology. Then again I have been working, sports and school since I was 16. My professor said it best. I prefer a hard working B student over an A plus student. Why? B students are my hardest workers. They strive for the sky and most come from humble beginnings. They always remain hungry!

I'd be glad to help you but 1)I'm in 9th grade (don't have any clue on what junior, senior, sophomore mean) 2)I'm not in from the US, I just moved in this year. (Learned English from my country since kindergarten to 8th grade so I'm pretty fluent in English) Now I need YOUR help. I have all A's on my classes except for a B+ on English that I'm working on. Is that good? Will the B+ make my life miserable? As far as I know, I need a .02% to get a 89% which I think is a A-. So I need your help to know if I'm doing good or no. Also, college applications, AP, IB, no clue what that means/is either. I need help please

        • You might find out someday that GPA really doesn't mean shit. Don't get me wrong, you should study and learn but it won't make or break you. Get an "A+" in people. It will make you successful in life beyond anything else.

        • I'm a sophomore too. I get distracted by games and sports but no matter what you're doing the education should come first

        • yeah that's alright. try to reach a 3.1 or 3.2 before graduating and with a good SAT score and a few extracurriculars to your name you'll get into a decent college.

          • It depends. There are many entitled dicks that'll tell you no because they go to easy "pay-to-win" schools, if you will. They say you have to get straight A's or be on a varsity team to be considered high class. I'd say that college isn't for everyone, and that you'll be fine as long as you care enough to try. If college isn't for you, my advice would be to take a career in contracting, or go to a trade school for plumbers or mechanics. Not everyone has to be an electrical engineer, it's fine to just be an electrician.

              • Only an idiotic conformist would believe that GPA is supposed to measure actual intelligence. Either way I'm still sitting on an 3.9.

                • It's pretty average. Not gonna get you any college scholarships but it'll at least get you in to any public college.

It's a B average. It's fine especially since a GPA just measures how much work you do in school and not how smart you are. Take my semester GPA this past semester in college for example. I didn't pass any classes, yet I got high Bs to As on all my papers and tests without doing an studying. I failed because I didn't do any of the bullshit inbetween stuff. I showed that I was more than capable and learning everything perfectly, but apparently college isn't about learning things.
