Perhaps the missing clue for the Templar's alt song is to ZERO sacrifices during conflux defense.
In any case... I always suspected that there's still an undiscovered secret somewhere in the Gorgon's Labyrinth. I have two reasons for this:
1. There are two distinct paths that you can take, from the start, to reach the Templar's Well, the straightforward path and the 'underneath' path (where the ghost fragments are hidden during Daily Heroic).
Similarly, there are two distinct ways to travel from the Templar's Well to the Gorgon's Labyrinth.
Why shouldn't there be an alternate path from the Gorgon's Labyrinth to Atheon's Throne room?
2. It's the Gorgon's Labyrinth. A labyrinth, by definition, is different from a maze. A maze starts at Point A, and ends at Point B. A labyrinth ends at the same point where it begins.
My theory, then, is that several triggers must be achieved (never lose a sync plate, don't allow any conflux sacrifices, prevent Templar teleport, who knows what else), prior to arrival at the Gorgon's Labyrinth.
Once in the Labyrinth, a route must be traveled to extinguish the blue flames that, you may or may not have noticed, will go out when you get near them. Through the Labyrinth and back, a new path forward to Atheon would become available.
I apologize if any of what I've written here is difficult to understand, I haven't had enough coffee yet this morning.

Edited by Kain: 12/5/2015 3:21:37 PMlabyrinth and maze are synonymous lab·y·rinth ˈlab(ə)ˌrinTH noun 1. a complicated irregular network of passages or paths in which it is difficult to find one's way; a maze.
-
That's a common misconception in the English language. Search the origin of the Greek labyrinth.
-
That would make sense since the vex have Greek names.
-
a common misconception is now the definition learn about words
-
Okay, bud.
-
Edited by Orion: 12/7/2015 1:44:04 PMKain is right, ya know.
-
'Learn about words', he says. One thing that I do know about words and language, is how subjective they are. Kain can quote from the dictionary all day, but only the people who designed the VoG know if the word 'labyrinth' was chosen deliberately or not. Considering how much Bungie references Greek mythology in the lore surrounding the Vex, I don't think it's much of a stretch to suggest that, when they label something as a labyrinth, there's purpose in that choice.
-
Edited by Orion: 12/7/2015 2:23:32 PMWell based on your own definition of "labyrinth" Bungie either doesn't know what it means or it is not a true labyrinth. A labyrinth has a single path that leads to the center. There is only one way in or out. This is obviously not how Bungie designed the Gorgons labyrinth, so regardless of how much they reference Greek mythology, this one doesn't fit the bill.

Creative liberties.
-
Wishful thinking
-
Perhaps.
-
"I bet that since Bungie loves Greek mythology references, the Gorgon's labyrinth is an ACTUAL labyrinth and not just a maze. They totally know the original distinction and are not just going by the modern usage born out of common misconceptions like so many other words in the English language. "But hey! Isn't a labyrinth supposed to only have one path from the start to the center?" "Yes" "Isn't a labyrinth supposed to have only one way in or out?" "Yes" "Isn't it impossible to go out of the Gorgon's labyrinth the same way you came in? "Yes" "Doesn't the Gorgon's labyrinth have separate entry and exit points? "Yes" "So then what do you make of these obviously theory shattering truths? "Creative liberties"
-
Yep. Sounds about right.

At this point I just assume it was there before the game got a new direction and story. They kept the VoG but removed certain parts. Then again why leave it open in the first place. Oh VoG how I miss you.

Edited by RingersCheckmate: 12/4/2015 7:40:14 PMInteresting. I think we should use this song method to discover the triggers and requirements. From then on we can discover if the triggers make a difference within the Gordon's labyrinth.

What about killing all gorgons? Thats gotta be something
-
Gorgons respawn. You can't kill all of them.
-
Edited by SkubaSteven601: 12/4/2015 5:51:37 PMYou can kill all of them, you just have to do it within 30 seconds. A group of guys managed to do it right before ttk dropped, its on YouTube, but nothing happened. :/ Edit- they still respawn, I believe, but nothing happens if they're alldead at the same time.
-
Can you use the sword to stop the gorgons instant death?
-
You can use armor of light + sword block, yes.
-
Nope, just tried it with all 3 swords
-
I believe so...
