VoG I think I found the first trigger. VoG secret confirmed?

I've been working on this one for a while now and I think I've tested it enough to finally confirm it. So remember the first phase of the VoG when you need to defend the sync plates? And after you complete it there's that little song that plays as the spire beam is opening the door? Well there are three different songs that can play there and I figured out what triggers each one. The first song will always play regardless of how you open the door as long as you are playing on normal difficulty. Here is a video of me playing through the sync plate phase on normal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3yH_tgOWqE The song is at 2:09. The second song will play on hard difficulty if you lose a sync plate during the phase. You'll know you've lost a plate when the message pops up saying, “The Vex are taking control of a Sync Plate”. Here is a video of me completing the phase this way, triggering the second completion song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lY6tiigVF84 The song is at 4:48. It’s kinda hard to hear over the shotgun but I included some links to cleaner videos of each song at the end. The third and final song, the one that I believe is the “correct” song to play, will only play on hard difficulty if you complete the entire phase without losing a single sync plate. Here are a couple of videos of me triggering this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGuMuVVoesc The song is at 3:21. I tested each song multiple times to make sure that that's what triggers each one and that they aren't just RNG. I don't know about you guys but this pretty much confirms for me that there is still some sort of secret left in the Vault of Glass. I would guess that the next trigger is somewhere in the Templar room since another song plays when you kill the Templar but I have no idea how to get it to change or if that's even what will change if that part of the raid is done correctly. The Templar song is the same whether he is killed on normal, hard, or with no teleports on either difficulty so maybe there is something that needs to be done during the conflux or oracle phases, or maybe there's a Templar trigger besides no teleports. Also, as a side note, one of the Cryptarch’s pieces of idle dialogue says, “Now what use would creatures like that have for music? No... It's language. Code, signal!”, so maybe the songs have some deeper meaning if we translate them somehow? Anyways this will hopefully get us on the right track and get more people interested in finding the secret. I think everyone should keep in mind when searching for secrets in the Vault that they might not find anything if they haven't done everything right up to that point. For reference here are videos containing just the songs. Normal mode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_s-OVbGEcsE Hard mode, plates lost: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01TcirattH4 Hard mode, plates kept: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0w4DO34sI0s TL;DR: Doing the spire phase of VoG without losing any sync plates makes a different victory song play. Thoughts, theories, questions? Edit: I think I may have uploaded the wrong video for one of hard mode success songs. I'll check when I get home and upload the correct video. Edit 2: Yeah I definitely uploaded the wrong video for Hard mode plates kept. The video I uploaded is one of the normal mode videos I have so I'll change that as soon as I can. The Hard mode plates kept video that show the whole run is the right video however so if you want to hear the song and I haven't changed it yet just watch that one. Also I'll see if I have a cleaner video of the Hard mode plates lost song that doesn't have gunfire over it. Edit 3: Ok all the links should be to the right videos now. I fixed the hard mode, plates kept video and put in a different hard mode, plates lost video because the one I had was hard to hear. Edit 4: Wow this got a lot more attention than I thought it would. It seems like reddit is pretty interested in this kind of thing but usually my Vault posts only get a couple comments on the forums. Anyway thanks!

  • If there is something left, it would be useless at this point, considering it'd be at Y1 level. Still would be interesting to find though. Of course, unless it's just shards......

  • Most people that care about vault secrets are far removed from the destiny day to day life, unfortunately. =\

It seems very interesting, but c'mon guys...remember the excitement about the sleeper simulant and how it ended? Hopefully in the future we get more story, more explanations and more quests that really needs to put pieces, clues and theories together (a may be with very good chances of success) and assemble.....The Year 3 Gjallahorn...Yyyyeesss! yess! OMG I just got to much excited and there is a Disappointment Alert Ahead!! :(

    • As well thought out as this is, nobody at bungie has the vision for this and Activision would sell the bonus as a separate DLC.

    • Good job however Bungie is laughing at all of us trying to figure out these secrets. They will make us waste our time for something that may not even be in the game yet. Don't do it! It's not worth it! :)

You maybe on to something but at best it's time gated or at worst it was left over from the original game that was cut...probably was left over from when everything you did meant something Wouldn't waste my time
sleeper simulant
Try using a metronome to figure out what notes are being played, the letter sof the notes may contain a code

        • This should've all been figured out in Year 1. Any rewards you would get from VoG now are going to be completely useless.

Why does it even matter anymore? If there was a secret its a year one secret and whatever drops will probably be useless

What if you need a completely flawless run to unlock something in VoG? Including... Not letting a single plate get captured during opening Not allowing any Vex to sacrifice themselves during Confluxes (even during good runs, one usually gets through by spawning near the center Conflux) Not allowing any Oracle to mark you, or any player getting marked by the green goo Not allowing the Templar to teleport Making it through the Gorgon maze in one shot without being seen Not letting a plate get captured during Gatekeeper Atheon is probably the same, as if you mess up it means a wipe anyway. And, what if all of that had to be done without a single death? I can definitely believe that doing all of those in the same VoG run has never been done before, especially with zero wipes.

Thought and Theory... and disappointment... You have obviously found something here and have tested and replicated it. You can control the song to the opening of the vault. I don't mean to diminish your discovery. Here is my problem with this. This is a simple mechanic, we have been running the VOG for over a year now. God knows how many people have dedicated endless hours of searching in the vault for the 6th/ 7th chest. We've all seen the vids, the theories, the bickering, the tid bits from Deej saying there are still secrets... How is it that you, NOW, have noticed this mechanic that is right there in the open for everyone to see? Again.. your the first to have posted about it that I've seen and you get the credit... Good job Here is the question... We know Dev's added some things and changed some mechanics in the vault for the Preadyth mission, and even more when the mission is the daily. Adding ghosts, opening that mysterious vex gate we've played with, basically changing and reusing existing maps to create new content. How do we know that the changing music isn't a new feature that has been added to get us to keep running the VOG? It could very well be part of something bigger... But i find it hard to believe that the changing music has been there the entire time and no one has noticed it until now... And one last time so you don't think i'm a trolling dick... you found this, tested it, and apparently proved it, good job buddy, keep us posted if you find it leads to anything... EDIT: TLDR: I find it hard to believe the changing music has been there since the VOG became available. It was likely added with the TTK expansion.

                • I'm willing to bet it has to do with keeping him from teleporting since that's how you get one of the hidden chests as well - but that's a right pain in the ass to do since they fixed it so we can't push him off anymore. Almost have to have a bunch of Titans with bubbles so you don't get obliterated inside the circe and have everyone frag him with Sleeper or Black Spindle.

                • If it's a weapon or armor piece, it'll be useless as chances are it was meant to be found in year 1... But secrets are still cool!

The oracles each have a note maybe you have to kill them in a certain patern to make the song
