It's really tough, you basically need to have a fireteam.
This happens every once in a while, and it's so annoying. When someone posts about how difficult the last mission for the Touch of Malice questline is, people always say "solo it"! Well about 90% of people that say that (probably a higher percentage), have never beaten the raid and earned a ToM.
People! You have to do the mission twice in the questline. The last step (the second time you do it) is ridiculously hard, especially if you're on your main, trying to get the Malice. It's like Bungie put all the cheap mechanics they could cram into one little, difficult battle. Just check, anyone who posts here saying "I solo'ed it", doesn't have higher then 300 light (but like I said, really more like 90%).

It's not [i]that[/i] hard. I haven't finished the quest, but I've helped two of my buddies finish it. However, (this is without saying) it was a challenge. But I like a challenge.

I soloed it for tom. Way harder than the regular quest. I died like 8 times before I finally got it. But yea it's doable solo just not easy.

I consider myself an extremely skilled player and I was unable to solo the Level 42 version required for Touch of Malice. The worst part is you can't just unload on the Echo and kill him. You need to keep him [i]alive[/i] until the wizard spawns. Throwback to keeping Phogoth alive for the Thorn bounty.
