Just can't get into the game, maybe another time or the right frame of mind.

It's best to not think too hard and just go with it. Like stay away from guides and forums and such, it can be incredibly overwhelming and make you think you're not playing properly. It's the perfect casual game to just pop in and play for little snippets, if that's how you want to play it. That's how I play and it's great!
