Refer a Friend is DOUBLY DISGUSTIPATING

Bungie. You assholes. 7 days to give your players something in return for MAKING YOU MONEY, DOING YOUR JOB FOR YOU. 7 damned days. When you KNOW people have been doing this shit for you since day 1. 7 F$&@ing days to give your newest players (because they are the only ones with friends who haven't played yet) new gear. AND NOTHING FOR YOUR DAY 1, YEAR 1, OR EVEN NEW TTK players. Just the brand new ones. You are money grubbing, heartless, unappreciative, greedy assholes. EDIT: As of 24 November (8:15PM PST) 14 of the top 20 trending threads in feedback are refer a friend venom. 70%. Nice work Bungie. Any questions? No?

  • 1. Bungie is a company, companies make money, name one non profit gaming company that doesn't want to make money? 2. Why doesn't activision get hate for destiny, they are partners with bungie in this. 3. The vets get rewards too, such as: - Moments of triumph - The VETERAN tour 4. They are trying to make it so that the future vets have a better chance at getting things done 5. They want to make a strong community 6. Remember all of the things that we vets have asked for since day one, they're adding them. 7. they are trying to give players something fun to do, if everyone had refer a friend when the taken king came out, then no one would want to do it any more, they probably planned to add it right before black Friday, when a lot of people would be buying destiny. or right before Christmas? 8. please keep the forums clear, there are children and mature people here, after all.

    • Guess I will be copy/pasting this a lot as the forums are blowing up about this. I am a Day 1 player for the record as well.... Anyone who has paid attention to my posts over my time on this forum knows I am far from being a Bungie fan boy. That said, I will call things as I see it. In this case, as I mentioned in another thread, I have personally been involved with and managed referral programs and I work at a video game company. So I have actual real world knowledge on this stuff from behind the curtain. That link they provide is the validation process. On the back end it provides Bungie an ID to prove that someone was referred by someone else. This will help to get any issues resolved if rewards are not issued, etc. That said, as a business, they have to have some type of control in place to make sure the program is not abused. This link (validation process) is that gate to make sure they don't get burned and are getting actual referrals. Otherwise EVERYONE and their mother would claim they added someone. So that is part of this that people aren't understanding. The other part people are complaining about is that they referred X people in the past and should get credit for it. 2 things on that: 1) - I know this sucks, but the cold reality is, the program didn't exist when you referred someone therefore you don't get to retroactively get rewarded. This is not unethical nor illegal. This should be a common sense issue, you made your referral, the program didn't exist then./end. 2) - Let's say Bungie wanted to reward you for referring someone before the program even existed, how would they know who you referred? There was no program, so there was no validation process (no link to have your friend sign up through) so how would you prove you referred someone? Believe me, I referred people too and would love to get this stuff, but reality is, I have no justification to get pissed off about it based on the above. Luckily I do have a friend who is getting Destiny for the first time next week so I will be referring her.

        • So I have 4 kids plus myself that plays games. Only one of my sons doesn't play Destiny at all. He prefers racers and fighters. So we did the refer a friend thing with him and he can not receive the gear because it has to be on a separate xbox that doesn't have digital installed on it. That is so lame. If your goal was to get people interested in the game I could understand. But clearly the interest is in -blam!- people for cash. Your day one players should be the core audience for gifts in my opinion. Good luck getting people to play Destiny 2 seeing as how things went with this first game.

              • "AND NOTHING FOR YOUR DAY 1, YEAR 1, OR EVEN NEW TTK players. Just the brand new ones." you do know that those "vets" CAN get these rewards too? the system requires TWO essential things: a brand-new player AND A CURRENTLY PLAYING PLAYER! your complaining about being stupid, really.

              • The funny thing is I have a total of 4 friends who own a PS4 and many games, but not Destiny. The reason being is because they've heard me complain and talk so much about the grind, they're discouraged to even touch the game. So this comes off a bit funny to me that they'd be asking me to refer a friend, when the reality is that I've deterred several of them.

              • They try to entice us to refer such a worthless piece of trash game to a friend so they can make more money. We all know it...it's not even like they tried to hide this one. And then they give you some cool exclusive items because they know that people want to be snowflakes so bad, they just might go and have a -blam!- a friend day and have one of their friends actually buy this piece of shit for a -blam!-ing glowing sparrow. Bungie, you money grubbing -blam!-in whores...I don't care if you have me gold set of armor with a year 2 ghallarhorn strapped to my asscheeks, I would rather be without it than support this scheme. You are dirty, filthy little -blam!-ers.

This is completely the result of players being sadomasochistic to themselves and their wallets. Relentlessly supporting this criminal enterprise and Bungievision knowing full well those same players would impale themselves with a traffic cone up the *** if Bungievision asked them to. So what is sending them out to bait new Bungievision Desticle International prison *****es. They'll run right out to do it, even if it may cost them those after they realize how F-ed the game actually is. Bungievision treats players with the same regard that the IRS treats taxpayers. Keep in mind that IRS won't even stop F***ing them after they're dead. The Bungievision and players situation remind me of a quote from the movie Spaceballs.... Lone Starr: I wonder, will we ever see each other again? Yogurt: Who knows? God willing, we'll all meet again in "Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money."

              • Bump. Talk about a shameless and desperate ploy to bring in fresh customers. Bungie, here's a novel idea: fix your game and you won't have to beg and cajole people to play it.

                • All my friends are longtime Xbox players already. They already have Destiny and the Taken King. And what's more, I actually DID refer a friend; I even bought his Taken King expansion for him when TTK came out! (still owes me $40, bastard) How are the true fans of Destiny supposed to get this new loot when all of their friends already have the game? Its bogus to put something that everyone would like to have impossibly out of reach. Why not just sell the loot at Eververse? At least everyone would have an equal chance at getting this Refer a Friend loot (controversial micro-transactions aside). This doesn't seem realistic. Everyone who would have referred a friend, or gotten a friend to buy Destiny has already done it, or those friends already have the game and the Taken King! This is just dangling a carrot that's always just out of reach. It aggravates me when Bungie/Activision pulls stunts like these. This would have been far better when the Taken King came out. This would been a great idea when TTK came out. Now that its been out for some time now, statistically speaking, there are far less opportunities to even Refer a Friend through Bungie's process. Its unrealistic.

Bungie just wants to turn it into a sister to CoD, theyre basically tryna suck money out of us as its fanbase nd circle is decreasing by the day, however it seems unrealistic destiny will eventually be as dead as mc or elder scrolls

                        • Let me start by saying I agree with you, but this isn't a surprise by any means. Every single decision made thus far has been geared towards enticing new players including easily levelling up from scratch and resetting guns and armor for every expansion. Not one time has Bungie given anything to their loyal players. I have 3000 hrs played, but as soon as my PS store loads properly, I'm buying AC Syndicate and shelving Destiny. I can't take another round of weapons tickering, re-levelling the same guns for the 4th time, crappy slap in the face referral programs, constant PVP lag and/or cheaters, lack of content, and the never improved upon RNG.
