what I did was uninstall TTK then reinstall it. It worked immediately after I did that

Going to sound stupid but how did you do that?

well since you're on Playstation, my guess is to go to system storage, look for Destiny, then try to find the The Taken King DLC, on xbox it's a 6.5mb download sized pack so I uninstall it, then re-install it, then hard reset my console. It usually works, if not, pray to RNG. :)
