Ya actually I went in and we saw Xylar the timeless. He has insta shields.

Okay everyone listen here: When Xylar spawns after killing all the Gorgon's he is just a normal mini boss, no special shield. His health level is similar to the tanks on strikes. But be careful of the gorgon that spawns when he gets to 1/4 health. Just like the other gorgons it will take your entire team to kill, and it will be a wipe otherwise. And if you wipe you don't get to retry. You just have to continue the raid. Which is obviously a bummer. EDIT: Bump if you're one of the Elite to have killed Xylar.
