The only conclusion I come to after reading this text is that you emphasise the same point and argument like 300 times.
Other than that go grind (new GG). If you have a good shotty at 280 you just go out for a xouple of strikes or court of oryx or whatever and then you'll have a bunch of 290+ blues and just infuse.
Like it or not but it's the same for all;-)

That old chestnut... I have friends at 300+ who haven't done the raid, plus the raid gear and guns look crap. I was hoping to get to 300 before raiding.

You can just infuse them into your current gear if you don't like it...
