The year one content is still available without the Taken King.
For instance, with Dark Below, you are still able to play Crota's End. With House of Wolves, you are still able to play Prison of Elders.
If you are experiencing issues with that content, ensure your Xbox Live Gold / PS+ subscription is up to date, and restore your licenses:

With all due respect, I would argue the year one content is useless. None of the items you can acquire actually benefit you in any way, and strikes and raids serve no purpose as nobody actually plays them any more. All of my level 32 gear has been reduced to level 20 whilst I am still level 34, without any explanation. This is yet another example of bungie's bad marketing.

Edited by Anidien: 10/28/2015 12:24:21 PMAll Year one gear was level 20 max gear last year. Under the Year 1 Light Level system, Level 20 was the maximum base level. Levels 21-34 were light levels, based on the sum of the light stat on your armor. Because level 20 was the maximum base level, all items had a level 20 requirement on them. 170 attack/defense, is the equivalent of 365 attack on year 1 weapons and level 34 granting (light 42) armor defense. This gear is the same power as before the TTK patches, and is still the pinnacle of year one levels, as it was prior to TTK.

I understand this, but the gear status is not my main concern, and I feel like you are avoiding the actual topic here. As stated in my first post, I have spent a lot of money on this game and I feel like I am not receiving any customer satisfaction with the content that I currently have access to, as I did previously. Yes, I can do Vanguard Legacy strikes, Crota's End and Vault of Glass, however these features in the game are only playable if others are willing to play them. Let's be honest here, you and I both know that nobody is going to play these modes any more because this content serves no considerable purpose in The Taken King and is practically useless. Please refer to my first post regarding my query about a refund for the Expansion I purchase; I like to think that I would be considered a valued customer, as should everyone who is playing this game.
