Future Arc, A Threat to Remember: Subject- Kabr #1
Warning. This will be more disturbing and in the realm of speculation than most of my work. Those who have the blood setting turned off be warned. And idk about you guys but I pronounce his name Kabār(Kinda like Cabal) and it's ignorant but it sounds better to me. All things quoted, referenced, or otherwise owned by Bungie, are owned by Bungie
The team of six went in. Geared, ready, unfrightened by the Darkness that would be their greatest foe. Five that went in never remembered who they were. One remembered his, Kabr. They were a force to be feared, but not by the Vex... For they had already seen this before. They had descended far into the Vault. Through narrow walkways and high cliffs until they reached a cliff leading to a large room. It had a ceiling but only one wall near the back that lead to a series of caves. Many structures floated, suspended in space by an unforseen force. It was eerily quiet and still. A Warlock held up her hand. "We are getting close. I sense something." The team stopped. They consisted of two Hunters, Warlocks, and Titans; one being Kabr. They worked well together like a well oiled machine, always fighting, never stopping. One of the Hunters, a human, spoke up. "What's up?" He leaned against the butt of his sniper rifle as it was propped on the ground. The Warlock spoke again. "They are near. Very near." She pointed her rifle forward into the room. They paused and waited, watching for signs of life. "Do you think we need to move forward?" The other Warlock inquired. He was young but cautious. The older Warlock didn't reply at first. "I'm not sure sweetheart. I'm not sure." The other Hunter, an Exo, spoke. "We have to find out. Do or die at this point." The human Hunter grinned. "I like what ... says." He hit the barrel of his sniper with his foot to cause it to flip and land in his hands. "Let's go kill these thing." The older Warlock spoke. "We can't rush in like a pack of Dregs!" "Nor can we sit back and hid." The voice belonged to Kabr who sat in the back of the pack. "I say we press on." The other Titan, a nameless one, nodded in reply. The older Warlock looked at the team and sighed. "Very well. ... and ..., you stay and watch the rear and middle room. ... and Kabr will take up the right. Me and ... will be left." Everyone nodded and moved. The human Hunter and the younger Warlock took position at the lip of the cliff. Kabr and the Exo Hunter swooped down and took right. The nameless Titan jumped down and went left. The older Warlock stayed back for a second and hugged the younger Warlock. "Be careful ..." The younger Warlock hugged her back. "Yes mom." After that the older Warlock jumped down and backed the nameless Titan up. All was quiet for a while. Until... They came. A large spire structure appeared at the back of the room. It glowed and hummed a sinister sound. "That's a Sacrifice Gate!" Yelled the Exo Hunter. "Keep them away!" Soon hordes of Vex began to come out of the walls and attack. They pushed for the gate, they wanted the gate, they Needed to open it... but Kabr and the others refused. Kabr killed Vex by the dozen, it was his area of expertise. He punched, shot, stuck, and descemated bots until they were simply scrap. The other rallied back to the Gate while Kabr kept the waves down. "I knew he was an old fashion guy who hates tech but this is ridiculous!"the Human Hunter laughed in glee as he picked off Vex with the younger Warlock. "Keep your head in the game!" Yelled the older Warlock. "This isn't time to praise!" Soon more Gates began to appear. They began to be overwelmed, but they stood their ground and no one entered the Gate. Fanatics came and went as they were reduced to pools of ooze on the ground. Kabr was grinning and having the time of his life, until the Gates dissapeared. The team was silenced as a low droning noise rang off the columns and into the abyss around them. More Vex spawned, as well as the a massive Hydra coated in a shield. "It's immune!" Yelled the younger Warlock after taking multiple shots at it. "The shield won't budge!" "Make it work!" Kabr yelled as he slamed a Fist of Havoc into a large group of Vex. The floor shook and the lights flickered in pain from the arc devestation. "Careful! You will wreak the place!" Barked the nameless Titan. "It will be fine!" Kabr charged at more Vex, continuing his onslaught. "Get back here Kabr! We need your help!" The older Warlock had taken a deep wound to the shoulder and was barely holding on. Her light was draining. As Kabr turned to run back, a group of Goblins grabbed him and took him to their cloud. He vanished in a roar of violence. "Where did he go?!" Yelled the Exo Hunter. "He was just here!" The nameless Titan was scanning his radar for any trace. Suddenly everything dissapeared. It grew quiet. The younger Warlock jumped down to help the older Warlock with her wound. "It's gonna be ok... it's gonna be ok..." The wound was severe but she was hanging on. The others looked for Kabr and called his name. After several calls, they heard a scream. It was a scream mixed with agony, hatred, malice. But it was mostly hollow, devoid of everything that would make it human. The team grew silent as a cloud appeared before them. It's occupant, their demise. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/152918262/0/0 link to part 2
