What it basically was saying is that the light is not necessarily always good and guardians a designed to mindlessly kill anything that opposes the traveler. But what if this was all a build up to a grand twist? Let's look at the story content. Year 1, all the story missions and strikes were just mindlessly killing things without much insensitive.
