Regicide killing Oryx at the last part without being smashed out of the map

Ok, I must have had the wrong strategy. Please help guardians! I was playing the Regicide mission for the first time, solo, and could not get past the last part where Oryx hovers in the fog and then rushes in. I had no trouble surviving until he would randomly swing and knock me out of the park like I was a baseball and then I would be instantly dead. I was a Defender, but thinking maybe going back as a Striker would be better as at least I could try to Super him as soon as he rushes in. Does he kill you in one hit with his sword attack, or is only the fact that I was flung outside the playable space that I died? Also what is recommended light level for this mission (normal, not heroic)?

  • The trick is to learn to "side-step" his attack....THEN shoot. Once you figure out his directionality - you need to go at a 90 Degree angle away from him - you'll get nicked at times but not killed. - Make sure your armor is up to snuff.

      • If you can wait, farm strikes and get your light up a little, will prevent the 1-shot issue. When you see him in the fog go to the opposite edge. He takes damage as soon as he leaves the fog, get a few hits in and jump out the way, taking shots as you move. It's just a matter of getting the timing right and getting as much DPS as you can.

      • I used the pillars. Make him come to you then as he is committed to the direction, sidestep behind the pillar. It helped me and seemed to block some of the area of effect attack. Not a flawless strat but it helped me.
