yup, as a self-taught traditional artist, whom is currently studying (as in school) the digital mediums, i can agree with almost everything down to the letter.
some tid-bits: with a ball-point pen, I can actually draw different shades, from light pen-strokes that hardly exist to medium lines that are clearly less than "normal" for the pen, and above. this skill, however, is very rare because A) i learned it from YEARS of practice with a ball-point, and B) who uses ball-point anyways? that being said, those lines are NOT like what i described at all. this isn't meant to be any sort of counter-argument, just a sort of "you know..." thing.
also, i am growing more... distaistful for the digital mediums because of things like this. i spent MY ENTIRE LIFE acquiring true drawing skills, and to have people like this press some buttons and claim to be my peers.... hmph.
(and for those whom are curious, here's some doodles i scanned at school: I dont have a scanner at home to constantly update :p)

thanks man, us artists love praise above all else (sometimes even above money lol). sorry though, I have WAAAAAAAAAAAY too much of my own damn shit i need to freggin' get to publishing. each of those characters are 100% my own and VERY fleshed out! i could literally spend hours just straight talking about them and all of that. often times i take a page from the stranger AND the speaker and force myself to say I could explain why i dont have time to explain..... (which im doing right now lol. just look at all of this im typing when all i needed to say was "sorry im too busy".) thanks again for the praise though, it does mean alot.

I am aware that it is possible to do with a ball point pen as I've done it before, but not to the extent above. When done with ball point it doesn't have that level of smoothness nor does it hold the same look.

yeah, that too.
