People with bad internet connections will be banned!?

It is sad to think people who have bad connections will be banned. Bungie didn't take in any consideration that some people cant get better connection because better internet is not available in their area, (please refrain yourself from making stupid comments as how you can just move to a better place). Now of course we don't know how bad the connection has to be *bad connection* but i feel this could go very sour. My connection tops at 2.8 Mbps and sometimes drops, sometimes during my play sessions I'm in the red. I can only get Verizon high speed in my area, does that mean ill get banned? Im most certain I'm not the only one who has these concerns. I spent a lot of my time and money to be worried if i will wake up to a ban because of a impractical policy that bungie had implanted. I could go on and on how i feel this is a slippery slope so tell me what is your take ? You feel it's justified? Or perhaps you think they are hurting the fans who got them to where they are and are only going to cause more damage? Btw: i have had games were someone was lagging, yes it's annoying but when the game ends i move on and join a new match and its fine. Edit 1: i don't red bar often maybe a few times a day. Im not anywhere close to * always being a red bar. The issue is how far is bungie going to go with the ban Edit 2: people don't get it, everyone red bars at some point some more then others some all the time. I red bar less then alot of people i play with. Therefore the ban sounds like a big problem for the players.

This is bs, even if there were internet issues BUNGIES GAME runs on a PEER TO PEER network which has inherent problems already, fallow thay up with being able to lose the ability to use all my stuff I JUST purchased not even a weel ago. Can false reports on your internet get you banned? Yes I've seen it happen to friends on fiber, wired connection. Refresh my bans bungie or kiss my money good bye. Im a pvp player who can't play pvp becaus someones salty and want to be a cry baby about internet.

  • I honestly think it's justified, a lot of my friends said you have to have an almost constant red bar and a certain amount of people have to report the user for it. But I really think that if someone knows they have poor internet, pve is all they should be able to do. It ruins the game for everyone else who have good connections. It's competitive multiplayer, it's not fair to have one person who is untouchable because they can lag all over the place. That's just my opinion though.

  • let be honest, pvp is mostly the reason this game is still alive, Once you finish your dailies and weeklies, theres not much to do, restricting people from pvp is only gonna drive them away from the game, and seeing how theres redbars in like every single pvp game, welp. what do they expect us to without pvp. patrol? lol

  • What?! Fúck that! I paid for my game just like everyone else. I don't give a shit about the other players! If I want to play PvP with bad connection then take a wild guess what I am going to do. Fúck all of you.

  • In my opinion this would start a major refund campaign! myself including. I have a 2 megabit line in other words DSL and that is the only option in my area that i can get. I like this game my connection regarding PVE is more than acceptable but when it comes to pvp i admit it gets to redbar often if ppl at my place are Youtubing or watching something else (apple products are AIDS). But i noticed that when im red baring and playing PVP somehow i get match with US or smth like that, so that means even more lag and inconvenience for me and others. Thats not my problem, i payed for this game and there was no information on what connection is required, im not a fan of pvp but taking this away is absurd! I as a user alone have the right to decide either to use it or not! ,,Customer is always right``!

  • look its like this your internet speed doesnt matter your ping does matter if i play usa lobbies (im uk) i get lag due to the distance to host if im the host everyone else gets lag i green bar as im the host so the main connection BUT if theres 12 ppl in a lobby and 11 are usa we all get lag to a certain amount and i think i read somewhere that cod/destiny swaps hosts every few mins (this explains why we all red bar) if that makes sense ?. now there are ways to reduce lag hard wire your console check your nat status your nat should be type 2 which in the uk is open/moderate if you have nat type 3 that is classed as strict and will cause no end of problems with games and chat put your console in a dmz the other ways are look at at buying a different router that has more options than your isp router as they are a bog standard connect you to the net job if you go down this road look at a net duma router as you can isolate your location i have one and i have blocked all usa connections (no offence) but they are blocked due to the distance which causes lag via a reduced ping time while i connect to them. also look into your isp do they use traffic shapeing/throtteling (most do use this btw due to ppl streaming and or using torrent sites) if they do (and they will) look on there help forums or speak to them directly. another one is to look up your isp share ratio if theres 26000 ppl all using one hub/excange (this includes broad band as far as i know true fibre is different but still uses traffic shaping) and 14,000 ppl are using the same isp then the share ratio will be poor esp if someone is using torrents . these are the most common used methods. my post may be wrobg but just a few pointers for gamers if your a squeaker well speak to your mum and dad .

  • I think it's great. Can't get a good connection? Then you shouldn't be playing a online AAA title. Go play mine craft then. Tired of laggers teleporting everywhere and it being to their advantage..

    • The other solution is dedicated servers instead of P to P. But that would cost more than they could aff...oh wait. But really, Theyd lose less money if they just ban those with poor connection. And excluding a few like myself, other players that benefit would actually praise them for it. How sad.

      • Good. The needs of the many out weights the needs of the few. Now I can kill a person on time so they don't melee me 5 seconds later after I kill them.

      • Every time I play solo or PvE, my internet is just fine, but the second I go into PvP, I always red bar. I live in a very rural town with awful internet.

        • They aren't targeting bad internet persay just people who redline every game. I'm sorry I used to play on 2mb down and I rarely lagged in shooters so it isn't an excuse to redbar constantly. An if you know your connection is so bad that you are red bar every game stop for the love of god playing crucible. I don't think it's fair to ban them but at the same time it isn't fair to us players with good internet when a red bar person is playing either. Especially when it decides to for some reason give them host lol.

          • Can you tell me what would be a "bad internet" for destiny? It's the speed or just the ping? A friend has 5mb down 1mb up and he is most of the time green

            • If are fully aware that you red bar almost every game, you should put down the controller and do a simple Goolge search on how to improve it. They are some pretty simple fixes; not hard to do.

              • No real details on what would constitute a ban, but red bar does not mean poor internet, it just means a poor connection to the host. I get Fibre Broadband where I live and have a Gigabit Ethernet connection for my PS4, but this Iron Banner seem to get red bar on 9 out of 10 games. I have good connection until the match actually starts and it goes to P2P hosting, then will be reliant upon the host being reasonably close and having decent internet. Unfortunately since the last update the criteria for host seems to be who lives closest to the Bungie offices and has nothing to do with their connection. I have seen many games where only one person in the game was green. That simply means the hosts internet service can not handle it. Regional Matchmaking and the ability to change hosts if their broadband drops (i.e. they suddenly decide to download a movie mid match) would solve a lot of issues (we are highly unlikely to see dedicated servers).

                • Regardless of the lag switchers, people who pay for good internet should not have to deal with people who don't. My Destiny experience should not be tainted.

                • https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/164200839/0/0 It is not always speed or connection, evidently latency or ping. PVP seems to stress that connection more. I have talked with people who have 15-60 mps being hard wired and still getting matched into places too far not to red bar. Most players are not trying to red bar or ruin play but there has to be some fair way to accommodate all players.

                  • It's just that people with bad connection might unintentionally ruin the match for other players. If their connection is bad they should lay off Destiny for the night and just get on the next day. Trials of Osiris in particular is for players who are good at the game and aren't cheating for it. Bungie is taking no chances in assuring that such a game mode stays clean of those who wish to deliberately manipulate the game in their favor. It's in that interest that they are purging those whose connection looks criminal, whether or not that's the case.

                      • You will only be "banned" from crucible, the rest of the game is still accessible to you. But tell me, do you really think it's unfair that you or any person with a terrible connection is denied access to a multiplayer where winning matters and bad connections can tilt the game in your favor? Is it really fair to the rest of the players that are paying just as much or more money for a better, more stable connection, for you to ruin their experience by not taking any damage whatsoever during a crucible match and rubber band around harder than a Taken Thrall? Do you really think that's fair to the community that has dished out tons of money to improve their connection? To throw their work down the drain just because you feel that running around in Crucible with a red bar and avoiding damage is ok? Honestly, this is something they should've done a year ago. But not just ban them, put them into a lobby where everybody has red bars 24/7, see how they like it

                          • It's fair in the sense that every game has 1 red bar person that makes a whole team rage game after game so for the point of the majority that get better internet for the sake of their gaming it's better. Yea it means people that red bar are excluded from the crucible but for the amount of hate messages they get per game saying sort your lag out you -blank blank- it's for the better. I feel for the people who live somewhere that there's not the option of good enough internet though :/
