Iron Banner has level advantages enabled???

Ok..so I LOVE Iron Banner. I have always loved Iron Banner and Destiny's PVP in general. I don't understand why level advantages can't always be enabled (if Bungie's goal is for people to be trapped in a game world that has them constantly trying to improve, creating an actual competitive environment that ties back to their amazing game is a great idea). It would encourage players to do the work to level and get the guns and come back into a competitive game space and enjoy the rewards of their labor. However, today in Iron Banner, I, a level 40 with 305 light was 1 shot, head shot with a 170 ice breaker who's wielder was a level 40 252 light. Anyone else see a problem with this? Or that a 170 messenger can still two shot kill you with precision damage. I know pulse rifles got the boost but the damage output should be significantly reduced based on light level. I feel like Bungie doesn't want to discourage PVP players who don't really care much about the PVE side of the game and are more excited about the PVP side because it's longer lasting; however, the TRUE fanbase of Destiny will always be those who grind daily to level, obtain gear, and completely wreck in crucible. My recommendation: Keep level advantages as a permanent fixture in "competitive multiplayer" and actually make level advantages noticeable. BT dubbs, the blink shotgun has been replaced by the blink sword which takes even less skill. Just saying.

  • It seems the power level system they're using now is on an extremely forgiving curve, I've noticed essentially no difference.

  • Well, the guy that's 252 light is only roughly down 10% damage vs a 305 light player.. so yea.. a Sniper shot will still one-shot you.. Level advantages need to off on normal crucible.. but perhaps the level-advantage curve needs to be cranked up a bit in for the Light-levels in IB.. players running around with Year 1 weapons only being down in damage by a few percent doesn't seem "right" .. I can still use my Hopscotch Pilgrim and be 283 light.. which will only put me down 5% to a 303 light. And it gets even better, because most players i've seen in IB this week have been in the 290's, which means I'd only be down 2.5% to most of them.. I don't think using Year 1 gear should still be viable in IB... just sayin' that right now, it still is.. So, I would favor making the curve a little steeper for those 30 light levels from 310 to 280

    • You get a slight advantage over anyone you are just above and a bit if an advantage over others who are much higher than. On a straight up gunfight where you both react at the same time, then you have the advantage. What more do you really want?

    • No thanks. Then the 310s will always win.

    • Disagree with this entirely. It would be completely unfair on people levelling up and would be a total disincentive to people of a lower light level to play. What purpose does using your light level to trash lower players serve? Sorry but it says to me you are lacking in skills for pvp if you think this is viable

    • I can see PvP being pretty empty if level advantages was enabled for all competitive. This is a bad idea.

      • Look, I love to play every day, but the drops aren't fair, when I'm playing crucible and a win a match with 'The best around...' I usually get, exactly, nothing. The drop system hates me... When i'm using three coins I never get exotic gear, and I don't have teammates to do the raid so I've never completed the King's fall...
