I accept that this theory has validity but I really hope that they don't make Mara sov a villain. It would just be so stereotypical to have another female turned traitorous like Kerrigan from Starcraft. There is a book of sorrow that I believe mentions that savathun started to ask oryx if they had done the right thing. Wouldn't it be a much better plot twist if Mara sov was savathun, but she actually wasn't out to simply kill the traveller and the guardians? If she left oryx to become different, maybe she has had a change of heart and wants something different? There are so many entries where the queen is painted as solely having concerns for the awoken. She's interested in the darkness, and distrustful of the traveller. Just because sov sounds a little like savathun doesn't necessarily mean they are the same person. Time will tell.

  • I don't think it's possible for Savuthin (or any of the Hive) to have a change of heart. Her worm would kill her. Has she had it removed or killed?

  • "[The Awoken] are out there, wavering between light and dark. A side should always be chosen, little light. Even if it's the wrong side." If Savathun is Mara, and thinks she chose the wrong side, perhaps this is her stage of switching.

  • And in fact if you don't mind me adding this-- I despise what they did to Kerrigan in sc2. It's just dumb. So stereotypical! "Oh look now she's good! But ruthless! But good! But ruthless!" Etc.... So irritating. Way to ruin a story.

  • Thanks! Yeah I hope that bungie realizes that introducing a new ally can make for just an interesting story as introducing a new villain. Having a new ally can introduce a lot of new storytelling not options for missions, raids, and lore.
