I don't like PvP and apparently that is NOT okay

I know its a lot of fun for some, but PvP is always maddening and frustrating for me and I avoid it whenever I can. That's why I always let out a few choice words whenever I am in the middle of a quest step to get something super awesome that I'd like to have suddenly leads into forcing me to do stuff in PvP. I might be the only one that has issues with this, but my enjoyment just drops once I see that "oh, you gotta do PvP to finish that thingy you gotten halfway on". @Bungie - do you really need to bar everything awesome behind a PvP wall? I am doing the daily PvP stuff, do you REALLY need to force me to play something I don't like even more? FYI I can tell you that I'm not getting more fond of it the more I am playing it. There is super awesome gear locked to PvP exclusively so do you really need to have everything else awesome have to go through it as well? Chaperone, the exotic swords, the rank 5 gunsmith handcannon. I suppose I could chose not to do them naturally, but when just about every cool weapon is locked behind PvP that is really reducing my options of cool flashy stuff. I beg you Bungie, for the future - stop locking so much behind PvP all the time - Have PvP exclusive gear like Iron Banner and such, but stop making most of the items have to go through PvP. Makes me a sad lion =C All that negative stuff said, I have to say that I do thouroughly enjoy the changes to the Taken King and how some of the unique item quest like "Black Spindle" and "Sleeper Simulant" works. These kinda things I love, great work all around! Edit: Wooh! Big subject. Bigger then I thought. Having hard time reading everything coming inn. One player came with the suggestion of having two ways of unlocking items. One PvE and the other PvP. Then players could pick which to go for. I like that idea. I get that PvP'ers aren't happy having to do PvE, same as I'm not happy doing PvP. I know what I like, but as some have pointed out, I can't expect Bungie to cater only to me. Thanks for a lot of feedback, I'm going to have to mull this over for a bit.

  • There is to much PVP requirements now, I like it a little but not to good at it and I hate to drag team down because of it. Not everyone does pvp for fun.

  • I don't enjoy PvP at all, and avoid it almost completely. Maybe with skill tiers it would be better.

  • I really don't understand this perspective. You aren't being forced to do anything. It is a choice to engage in the challenge if you want the reward. Including PvP makes the challenge steeper because it requires a greater variety of skills. Maybe i'm missing something. I don't understand why it is all well and good that Black Spindle and Sleeper Simmulant are PvE rewards, but mixed PvP/PvE quests are a huge problem. My personal theory is ego bruises, but i'm trying to keep an open mind.

    • I am a little torn on the issue. On the one hand I don't like doing something in this game that I don't like doing either. There are people in the game however that absolutely despise PVE and only want to do PVP. Using them as an example they are still stuck doing the same quests in PVE to get exotics that you are complaining about for PVP. Guess my point is this sort of cuts both ways.

    • Pvp is for competitive people only, if you ain't competitive then it's just not for you. As for people saying it's not ok to not like pvp tell em to stfu and choke on a horse cock!

I'm with you. I feel the same way about online trophies/achievements. Keep them separate - I like PvP challenges, and I like PvE challenges. Never should they meet if I decide to do one.

      • If you have to force players into a certain play list then you have a flaw with your game. Pvp or Pve. We must not be playing the game right
😕
• I don't like pvp either. Fortunately most rewards don't require a lot of wins. Just putting in the time. Play crucible , put on favorite music in background. Don't care if you live or die ( keep your stress lvl down) Call it a day.

        • I wouldn't say I hate it but I have to be in the right frame of mind to play it, I can find it really stressful and I don't want that from a game. The fact that there are quests relating to cool gear behind a PVP challenge actually make me hate it because I can't just play for fun. The idea behind trying to get people to like PVP through this technique is a big fail and shows a misunderstanding of the player base in my opinion. It's not just destiny PVP, it's any PVP, I know what I enjoy and what I don't enjoy and giving me things to force me into this won't change my opinion.

        • Bungie have a design theory that players who do both pve and pvp play for a lot longer than players who just do one or other. So they think getting players to pvp will keep them playing. Which is very flawed logic. It's like China thinking toasters make people smarter because all smart people have tossers. But don't expect this to change the dev behind this has a bit of ego and tends to only change methods where we are littlary burning the place down causing bad PR and players start to quit... (see rasool engram issue in year 1)

        • This is their heavily flawed way of trying to get people to play PvP. I'd be willing to bet that most players hate PvP.
