Is it possible to do this from a local dev environment (read: localhost) and then push your finished product to a live server rather than developing externally?

I use WAMP as mu localhost dev environment. I managed to get it working using [quote]curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, false);[/quote] but am not sure that would be safe to leave in when publishing a live site. Hoping removing it for 'live' will not break it when I'm done.
