Question about exotic drops and supercell
So I want to ask everyone here about how exactly exotic drops work. And I mean like chance. I'm not new to Destiny before been playing since launch but I never really thought to consider the actual Chance of the drops. I have never gotten an exotic drop without using a three of coins. Now these INCREASE your chance an ultra will drop one.
So what would you guys say would be the chance of ultras at the end of heroic strikes dropping exotic engrams without the three of coins. Because I feel it's pointless without the three of coins.
My last question is for people who have supercell, where did you find it? I know it's a general drop but the only exotic engrams that ever drop for me are armor drops. So I'm curious if Any specific boss has a better chance to drop it.

2 RepliesEdited by Luxuspunch: 10/7/2015 3:15:41 PMI got my supercell from a primary (duh) exotic engram. These do drop if you have three of coins activated. How three of coins work: Use [b]ONE[/b] and the next ultra you kill (you can see it's an ultra by the little skull beside their hp bar) has a chance of dropping an exotic engram. If it doesn't drop one, the next ultra you kill with three of coins active will have a slightly higher chance to drop one. Using them fast on mission bosses and wiping doesn't get you anything. They patched that. It has kind of an invisible cooldown of something like 10 minute to work how it's supposed to work again. If you use them between strikes you shouldn't run into trouble. And then there's quests and the nightfall. Exotic quests give you a exotic weapon guaranteed upon completion. However the nf doesn't give you a guaranteed drop. Hope I could help. As for specific chances, I think with 5-10 three of coins you will get arround one to two exotic engrams, it all depends on your luck. For the exotic chest in the oryx raid, i've only once seen a taikonaut drop in 5 runs, so the drop rate seems very low ... < 5% Also on a side note, in vanilla destiny and TDB/HOW exotics dropped from checkpoints in raids and other activities. Vog: Exotic chest in gorgon maze Atheon Crota: Ir yût (deathsinger checkpoint, prepatch in the first chest in the thrall/lamp abyss) Crota Prison of elders: In the treasure room after you completed the run Trials of osiris: In the silver/gold package or in the lightgouse And in the nightfall From my experience the exotic checkpoints each had a 10%-15% chance of a adrop and the NF had 30%+ chance of a drop, whereas the current NF only seems to reward players with a 10% chance of a drop.

1 ReplyI dont think its a "increase chance" but rather "now allows a chance for exotic drop". Without a 3oC i dont think exotics drop from them ... but prove me wrong, judt havent heard of it.

Got mine doing black garden mission. Three yellow bars to fight at end. Used a coin on each of them. Did it twice got super cell.

It's just RNG. All I seem to get are weapon engrams with 310 attack weapons ( and I'm wanting 310 armor pieces for infusion)

You'll get 1 anywhere from 1/10 or u could do the raid and PPP one on the echo of orxy always get and engram out of those

I'm right there with you. Never had an exotic engram drop without the three of coins. Had a bunch of armor engrams drop so far and very few weapons. The weapons I have received are the 2.0 versions of Hawkmoon and Suros (twice each) along with Jade Rabbit twice.

Idk about all the technical drop chance stuff, but I got my supercell from the Warpriest with a 3oC active :)

2 RepliesPlaying since launch and never had an exotic drop? You had a chance to do 120+ Nightfalls, 3 goes at the VoG exotic chests plus Atheon, Deathsinger and Crota (every week) and never get an exotic? You're doing something wrong!

Got mine for beating oryx must of been my mouldering shard reward dropped at 310 too

Got one supercell from an engram (3 coins). It works fine for me and I see it as a plus reward. When no drop, I'm not disappointed, but happy as -blam!- when it drops. My other supercell dropped yesterday from the exotic chest in the raid.

This past weekend on Saturday I was running strikes. Did the sunless cell strike on normal(36) when we killed the dark blade I had 2 exotic engrams one special and one chest drop, the Titan dark blade helmet also dropped. I was using a three of coins. Up until then I had never seen two exotics drop. I imagine the 2nd one I got was indeed an actual exotic ultra drop. It must have a VERY low drop chance.

I got my Zhalo from an engram that dropped from warpriest.

Got a primary engram from bond-brothers first week xur sold 3oC took me about 3 engrams to get it because PS exclusives... Zhalo is a beast mayn!

I know that every one is getting pretty po'd about the drops on general being janky as hell. Like duplicate hawkmoons and crap consistently. So I hate that I feel like I have to have three of coins.to even stand a chance.

I am a veteran of past destiny versions but just started playing the Taken King so I am not aware yet of all the different potential opportunities for exotic drops. However just like you, this weekend I used several three of coins and got only exotic armor drops. No weapons. I did strike after strike and never got any other exotic drops.

Me personally, I have not seen an exotic engram drop unless using three of coins. These have been nerfed a little btw. I'm a year 1 player as well if that helps. Exotics usually dropped in raids or nightfall only before three of coins. I got supercell using three of coins against draksis in the scourge of winter mission easy I think.
