I had a limited time frame to solo it this afternoon and in the first encounter I walked backwards off the damn edge.

I was kinda in the same boat, for the 3rd ghost I didn't go just straight down from the 2nd tunnel. I took a left and jumped in the direction of the portal and got stuck on the bottom layer of the wall. But I managed to climb my way back in about 10mins
