Didn't Rasputin harm the Traveler to protect Humanity? Lupi, as you said was going to flee, again, and leave us to deal with the Darkness like it did the Fallen. Knowing the only way Humanity would survive, Rasputin attacked Lupi, immobilized it and forced it to protect itself and thus Humanity. Then with the last act of it's power it created Ghosts, to empower Guardians so they could fight back the Darkness and give Lupi to time it needs to stabilize and regain some of it's former power. This is why I believe Rasputin hasnt helped us yet. Knowing the Vanguard and Guardians are pawns, Rasputin knows Lupi will leave and solidify humanity's destruction. I think he's looking for a way to defeat the darkness on his own to prevent that from happening. Might hope we can get another Golden Age going. That's just a thought I had. Why else wouldn't Ras help what's left of Humanity?

 • Fellow Guardians We have forgotten a few things about our favorite Russian Warmind, He was the first to encounter the Darkness and once he realized he could not win canceled all protective measures against the darkness and went dormant....I don't believe Ras fired on the traveler. I doubt his weapons were strong enough to damage something referred to as a god ...whatever the darkness truly is probably damaged the traveler and made a Warmind abandon his only function...sucks we don't have enough info on the collapse to piece it all together just yet but what we do know is Ras doesn't care for humanity just survival

 • Rasputin is probably slightly miffed because we thank the Traveler for its noble sacrifice, and not Rasputin for actually doing all of the heavy lifting.
not gonna lie, the first time I read Ghost Fragment: Rasputin 5, I just sorta pictured my guardian sitting there for about an hour, rethinking his life...
I totaly agree to this theory. The Traveler has always engaged new civilizations giving them a golden age then leaving just when, "when the night is dark and full of terrors". Even strong civilisations as the Dakaua civilization (book of sorrows 3th verse) that fought the hive was in the end distroyed: Dakaua civilisation was distroyed after oryx gatherd all his might, slaying both Savathun and Xivu Arath gaining their power. The traveler have never created a civilisation strong enuf to overwhelm the darkness until now. RAS crippeling the traveler makes sense because it gives the traveler no other choise than stay and fight the darknes. After the colapse the traveler made the guardians. Remeber when guardians kils minions of the darknes they create motes of light or orbs of light. Chaneling the powers of light from the traveler, may be the only way to fight against the darknes. So i totaly agree with you Wolf Captain and Ragthos

 • This. If you read the Books of Sorrow from start to finish, you can see that the Traveller has a pattern. It gives civilizations "gifts", hangs out, and then when the Darkness does a drive-by with their Hive gangstas, the Traveller lays low and slips out the back door so it doesn't get shot. Rasputin figured it out, and said no, you're staying here girl. Then it shot it with antimatter gats and made it stay. Yay.
