Many fair points. One nice feature of the runes (which I've had to do twice) is cancellation. The randies sit down? Cool, die, respawn and don't go back in... event cancelled and rune returned to inventory. Randies messing the strategy? Wipe and cancel :) you do still get summoner's exhaustion though.
