They've made Black Hammer not worth having!
Nerfing it would be doing something like:
* reducing its stability so you are less likely to get the 3 precision hits necessary to trigger the Whitenail effect
or
* introducing a percentage chance that - even when triggered - Whitenail - may have no effect
or
* simply decreasing its damage.
But with such a small ammo reserve, what Bungie have done is make Black Hammer not worth the vault space. It's ruined.

My main problem with the nerf is that when you do the calculations, a fast reloading sniper combined with the triple tap perk will give you more dps at only a tiny bit of a slower speed, meaning the black hammer is now beaten at its own game, especially since it has mulligan.

Edited by TraderShadow: 9/11/2015 4:05:12 AMTurns out that is because they are adding a sniper that with 4 precision shots refunds your magazine.... [armory]Hereafter[/armory]
-
The thing is... They made an exotic that does what BH used to do. So shut it god.
-
Edited by Dampfanator: 9/10/2015 11:59:51 PMYeah but what can ya do its still a great sniper
-
They've added a new exotic sniper called the hereafter that has the same perk for black hammer, except the mag cap is 4, and it isn't rapidly hitting precision shots. It also has a park that getting a precision kill has a chance to blind nearby enemies. Basically flash bang bullets.
-
It's a 3 round sniper with a reload perk now. Pick up a larger magazine sniper and f*** the reload lol
-
Mulligan has a big improvement though
-
I think what bothers me more is the fact that none of this gets picked up in testing or takes months to figure out. TDB came out in, what, November? And they only decided it "fix" this now - where are their testers?!
-
I guess there is going to be an exotic sniper that did what blackhammer did so let's see!
-
Oh sorry, is not having a bottomless ammo sniper making you mad? It's called Icebreaker if so. Stop whining, honestly was a good fix.
-
That much is obvious as you now obtain something special for breaking it down. Bungie put a legendary in the game that could put more damage down range and faster than G-Horn. It was a problem. At least we got to enjoy it. So buck up and keep 1 for the memories. Check out Briar Rabbits video on Blackhammer.

Perfect balance and speed reload. Nerfsss

#bumpfortruth
-
It still has the highest potential for DPS for snipers by saving the time it takes to reload, provided you're accurate. It's good in every category except RoF which is normal for its archetype. Still does the same amount of damage. Sorry you can't cheese the bosses anymore.
-
It still is worth having... It has the highest dps of any sniper rifle, they just made all other snipers worth having now. Infinite ammo is cheap and anyone that thinks otherwise would use cheats if available as that's what infinite ammo is
-
You can dismantle it into a shard that you can give to Eris for Rep.
-
What bungie has done is only making you go out to look for some ammo once or twice in a boss fight instead of just stay back and snipe forever...you know, putting yourself in danger once or twice may be actually fun in a game where you shoot and get shot. But hey, Bungie you are a bunch of a$$hole$ for trying to make the game more challenging!
-
Have used it in a few strikes - still fine except you need to do one or two ammo pickups.
-
Edited by GraciousEel761: 9/10/2015 3:25:24 AMYou wouldn't need Black Hammer any more anyway. Its not a good PvP gun, and it would be useless in year 2 PvE. There is a new exotic Sniper Rifle that will have the same perk but with 4 shots instead of 3.
-
Hours played per player is artificially going up with these nerfs to the best weapons in the game. Only reason for these nerfs. Doesn't everyone feel legend shooting such mediocre weapons now?!?
-
And you are basicly getting a TTK exotic version of it though
-
It's been replaced by an exotic. Cry more.
-
Edited by Twheeeeezy17: 9/9/2015 11:36:37 PMIf you dismantle it, you get a rune. I still don't know what the rune goes towards yet... Possibly the court of oryx?
-
You can still have a ridiculously large magazine to stun lock bosses with. That's gotta be worth something.
-
Moot point, as it and many others will quickly be surpassed by stronger weapons very soon.
