Dear Esteemed Bungie.Net Designers and Hal,
I have been an admin for the greatest group/clan on bnet, The WorkPLace, for over 7 years now. Since recent updates to the site, many of my admin tools and abilities have been removed. I have been waiting patiently for some time knowing you were probably working on more important things, like the game, but I'm beginning to get impatient. There are certain things that I NEED to be able to do as an admin for a large and active group. The first and foremost being that I need to be able to edit members' posts, not because I'm a controlling egomaniac, but because it will actually help facilitate the group.
For example, we have it set so that only admins may make public threads, but occasionally a member will create an incredible thread that we realize after the fact we want to share with the public. Currently, admins can't edit a thread so that it is public after a member has made it. The only option is for the admin to recreate the thread so that it's public (thus stealing the credit), or go through a convoluted process of temporarily allowing members to make public posts and then let them make it again and then revoke the privilege again. What a pain! It would be so much easier if I could just edit the post and un-check Private.
Example dos: We have a thread that was originally posted in 2011 by a member. It was pinned at the time (now group announcement). We would like to un-pin the post. However, because it was made by a member who is no longer active in the group, there is no way to do this. We could just delete the thread, but it's a memorial thread and we don't want to lose the content.
Example C: Sometimes I just want to rename threads or put in an admin note in the OP for clarification. Not possible. Grrrr.
There are other capabilities that I wish we had such as the ability to ban directly from a post rather than going to the member list. And the return of roles/titles. (It would be even better if I could set certain permissions for certain roles.) But the inability to edit is the biggest thorn in my side right now. So pretty please, with sugar on top, can I please have this admin power back?

Can this in anyway be abused? I know 3 years of experience does not even compare to yours, but I am just curious because I have recently became an active member in the forums and am a little clueless.

Yes, great examples! Better and more robust tools will help group admins make clans a better experience. I'd like to see the capabilities of b.old be a baseline.

This post should also serve to encourage discussion about these much needed improvements. I'll add that more granular group roles and permissions are necessary. Super admin, admin, editor, etc. This would give group owners better control over their assistants and avoid embarrassing and damaging group takeovers, and rogue admins with too much power going nuts to list a couple.
