Im a newb streamer, don't want to be a cleavage streamer

http://www.twitch.tv/shootingpandas 24+ hour stream on 9/15 starting at 5am eastern! So I'm a newb streamer. I plan on getting a playstation camera in the future to stream more, but I need pointers. I am a girl and everyone says that I need to show cleavage to get a lot of views. I really don't want that. Granted I will freshen up though and wear makeup and dress appropriately but Can you give me pointers and advice? I have some past broadcasts and would love if anyone with some free time could check them out. Lately I have some cod ones so please excuse those. I understand having a schedule helps, but I don't plan on making one until I get a camera. Thank you so much ahead of time!!!!! -pandas WHAT I HAVE LEARNED: Nightbot Be yourself, dress as you would normally. Don't be monotone, speak well and address audience. If camera shy, place picture beneath camera to help. Help viewers every once in a while. Don't straight up ask for donations. Check other high up streams for examples. Try to be humorous and entertaining. Don't be berating and trolly against chat trolls. Expect nasty chat messages as a female, ignore it. Try to save $ to invest in better streaming equipment. Have party chat with everyone's voice to be heard. Create a schedule, shows commitment. Try streaming when main popular streamers are not. Do not rage over own stupidity and blame other players Do not need camera, but if do make sure background appropriate and lighting is good. Have a good microphone. There are some more that are very specific but I promise that I have made note of them. If I seem to be missing more info please let me know so I can add them to this post and use this thread as my "cheat sheet". Edit: Lots of sound advice from everyone. Thank you so much! I still welcome more! YwY Edit 2: wow! So much to read! I may not Che able to comment them all but I am listening to all you have to offer! Thank you so much for trying to help a future streamer! :) Edit 3: I've decided to do the whole cam thing. I will be getting one this weekend and trying it out for a stream. :)

  • I don't advise stealing content but maybe watching other streamers to see what they do right and what they fail at. If you watch, Shesmynerd, you will (hopefully) hate him for the way he blames everyone but himself when he fails, and is super aggressive too! But if you watch someone who knows what they are doing and are having fun too, like Datto (My opinion but I do have a whole bag of 'Zip it' for haters) then you can see he plays a lot of challenges but doesn't really interact with his audience. Then there are other Streamers who always interact with their Audience but still play for fun. (I don't watch enough streamers to give an example here) You just need to find out what you like to do and build towards that. Then just hope viewers who like that style, find your channel.

  • It really just comes down to who you want your audience to be and act/prepare respectively

  • Be entertaining to watch. Interact with your chat. Play with viewers. But for the love of god, if youre doing something that requires your full attention (such as a raid, nightfall, weekly heroic, and so on) ignore your chat. Had a good raid run going with a female streamer, and she singlehandedly derailed it by ignoring the game to talk to people in her chat. Left me and one other guy to sit outside and hold down the portals, and the other guy couldnt get the rhythm of the encounter down. Kept going down to leave me alone, and one person could only do so much as a 27 with an as-of-then unmaxed voc. So from the friend of numerous streamers, please pay attention to the game when necessary

  • If you choose to use your body for views, don't complain when the comments get out of control. If cleavage is what you need for views, you need to up your game, because that's weak.

  • Focus on content. If i want to see girls I won't be on twitch. Facecam is a waste of screen space to me.

  • Holy cow you're cute! But seriously, just be yourself and remain positive and happy. If you keep your language clean you might build a reputation for being accessible to a larger audience. Makeup or no makeup you should turn out good. You're still way pretty though....

  • I don't think cleavage is required but I do think it will boost your views considerably. Personality is probably more important. Good luck.
shooting pandas lol!
• Majority of your audience is male teenage to mid twenties. Coming from a mid twenties guy I'll be watching a cleavage shot rather than none, why? Because sex sells and that's that. Nobody can disagree and if you do ur wrong

    • Just stream because you love it most people start off that way and find a lot of success if you keep at it, streaming a certain schedule everyday helps and you have to be very interactive with chat

      • No one will give a shit unless you're a cute girl showing cleavage. No one really gives a shit about any streamers unless they're a funny guy or a cute girl. You're not getting views from your play style, skill etc. Also all streamers and you tubers are cancer

      • It all depends on your personality. Most of the cleavage streamers I find boring. If that's the only thing their stream has going for it, I won't bother watching. Have fun, smile, laugh. Be genuine. Interact with your followers/viewers in a genuine way. Be yourself and have fun. Viewers will come, or they won't.

      • What's wrong with showing cleavage for your stream? Wouldn't you agree going to the beach or pool in a bikini shows more? What's the difference

          • Cleavage=views and donations. It's simple economics. If you don't want to show cleavage maybe twitch isn't for you. Not trying to be funny or mean but this is the truth.

          • Don't listen to the cleavage showing people, because thats terrible advice. Just show your audience you care about them, interact with them answer questions, but most importantly stream at least 3 hrs semi frequently. Maybe ask the audience if they want to do some pvp maybe if you're up/comfortable with that idea. I'm trying to stream, but it's more difficult than i thought!

            • Just be yourself. Speak clearly and mute abusive players. Everyone has their own take on gaming. Make yours by taking your time to grow into it. Followers will show for the right reasons, not just because you are female. Best of luck.

            • You sure as hell don't need a cam. The streamer Frenzy has 100K followers and has only 2 pictures of his face on the Internet. Just act like normal, be interactive with chat, and do not ever look at the viewer count. Ie streamed about 10 times. I don't know how many viewers I've got. Don't ever plan to know. Also, hitting up this link will allow you to set up nightbot, which is a robot chat moderator that you have control over.
www.nightdev.com
Also, don't give moderator status out to those that don't deserve it. If you're planning to stream destiny, which I would assume you are, I'd suggest trying to get in touch privately with other streamers in the community. It's like a job, because connections get you places on twitch. Try to find a twitch team as well. Those are basically just a clan, except it's straight off the twitch site and for streamers. Joining a team can help you build your own community and spread the positivity of your stream onto the next. And schedules are important as well. Like, really important. After about a month of streaming, you should be able to have a consistent schedule time down. I'm still trying to find my own personally. But it's seriously super fun to stream, and you should always be streaming just to have fun. That's the most important piece right there. If you have fun, there's a pretty good chance so will your viewers. And don't forget to set up your twitch account with a mini-bio, a full bio, a profile picture, etc. Now, shameless self plug
I usually stream Smite or Binding of Isaac: Rebirth.
