Destiny Questions Thread #8 - Let's Talk About Destiny

It's been a little while since our last one, but the team is ready to take on your questions. In this, you can feel free to ask any questions about Destiny's lore and even it's production. We will answer to the best of our abilities. Mind you, much will be speculation based off of theories we've formed and will be labelled as such. However, if it's fact, we'll let you know too. And with that, fire away. I'll probably update this thread with links to other threads you may find interesting. The same goes for the group members. I am just a community volunteer, but that's another topic all together.[/b] Edit: If you have theories or answers, share them!

  • Hi Charlemagne, I am another of this lore obsessed junkies. I am curious about the relationship to the Vault of Glass and Black Garden. Despite the fact they are both displaced out of time and space but both seem to inhabit a physical location and relevant time based around the time that a Guardian has entered them. When you destroy the Black heart you are on Mars with the same physical surroundings, and same time frame as when you entered. The vault of glass has a portals to the past and future. Architecture shows that they would have both been created by the same force. Did the vex build the black garden? Or did the vex find the vault of glass? Despite similarities, they serve two drastic purposes. The Black Garden shows very religious action and worship towards the Dark Heart, yet the in the vault of glass, there is none of this worship. Lead by Atheon (godless) to incorporate themselves into the laws of reality. Are these two different sects of vex? Or was the creation (or inhabitation) of the vault in response to the dark hearts destruction? Or vice-versa? Obviously, do to vex time abilities, these can be acousal. Finally, in the past and future versions of the vault, it claims you are lost in the dark corners of time if you lose control of the portal plates. How can this be the case if you are still in the Vault of Glass. All time lines converge through Atheon in the Vault. So you shouldn't be lost. However, visually, the past and future show a desolate destroyed vault. It's apparent that these areas are outside of Atheon's influence, which means the vault does not exist in these regions of time. That would explain why he tried to hide the Aegis there. Yet, the locations seem to be anchored by the red oracles (which are clearly drastically different than the yellow ones built by the vex). Do you think the red oracles where built by another race? This caused the vex to build the vault of glass on that location because of the time influence of the red oracles? Then the vex tried to make their own versions inside the vault? Sorry if some things are unclear. I am on the mobile app.
