So just spend it as you get enough. Can refill to 200 as much as you can. And the merging of the marks is something we've asked for all along. It's a good thing.

Yes just spend it on things you don't want so you can build back up to be forced to spend it on more stuff you might not want because your grinding is going to be meaningless if you don't spend the marks...

  • I guess you prefered saving up for over a week just for one character to buy a weapon?

  • at first it may not be a huge deal because of the new items but after a while you might not want any of the items but be forced to buy something in order to make more marks and then an item comes along you want and you don't have the marks so you have to grind more. It's just a ploy in my opinion. Or you'll just grind and lose out on marks so you will have enough marks when something comes along that you really need. but as it is now we have 1200 marks so even if you are filled up if there is something you want you can go and buy multiple items at once. I need a helmet, chest armor, material you can get it without having to grind daily. I think a 600 cap would be fair.

  • I do that now. For the passed several months I've had max vg/crucible marks on all characters. Minus a couple crucible marks on one. So they just vanish. But it used to drive me nuts having to wait over a week to get a weapon. So I'm all for the shared marks and being able to refill as often as possible. Guess I'm used to everything being driven by creating more grind.

  • So then you can see what will happen. With the cap you will end up exactly where you are now after a month or two except instead of wasting a day of marks unearned you'll be wasting much more saving for arms day or other vendors and instead of getting up to 12 armor pieces at a time you can get 2 max. Everything is a trade off so it'll be similar to now. Made shareable and no weekly cap. I didn't reach the weekly cap except for crucible during iron banner so that didn't help me much but I can see how that really helps more frequent players. So to combat that reduction in grind thy had to add more back by making the planetary materials farmed again. Making marks a widely used currency. Keeping the high price of materials bought with marks. And reducing the places you can get marks. Basically I see this system allowing greater freedom in spending marks at first. But because you need marks for more than vendors you will have trouble saving again. But as quests and other things become pointless as you progress you'll save more and hit the cap all the time like now. Then you'll be wasting marks again except you'll be doing it daily instead of weekly. Basically I don't want to do an activity go to the tower, do an activity and go to the tower. In nows perspective I want to go to the tower. Do the nightfall, heroic, wanted bounties, daily crucible, maybe a Poe or two, then go to the tower again not after each event to spend marks

  • Yeah I think it'll be a lot like now. Where the first few weeks no matter what Id feel I was wasting marks or struggling to get them because I'll spend them on all the new stuff. But once drops start happening more and more the purchased stuff becomes useless and marks stay maxed out. Which is why I'm not upset at all by this. It will benefit me. Because if I feel like grinding all week I can potentially buy multiple things AND on any character(like armor). So many times I wanted a titan helm but he was the only broke one and so on. Either way it shouldn't be a super easy earn all the things in a week or month type thing. hoW has been pretty easy in terms of max level gear. Was refreshing for sure. But I did find myself caring less and getting bored a lil more often than previous times. It's tough to walk that thin line in between!

Good points. It seems wasting marks earned doesn't bug you as much and progressing in gear faster on the grind matters more to you than me. It frustrates me to no end right now to waste them but Im happy to wait a week for a specific piece if none are wasted. I didn't buy much vendor armor except to dismantle it for mats during year one but bought weapons frequently. Upside though I have plenty of stocked planetary materials so I won't be farming again in taken King anytime soon. Any wasted earning is precious time lost to me. I think the biggest difference in our opinions is play time. You can see an advantage to committing to the grind and probably have much higher weekly playtime than me. (Probably contributes to boredom as well as how rewards being mostly meh quality) I'm at my max. I'll never be able to commit more time than I currently do and probably less as time goes on so the lack of a weekly cap doesn't affect me much but being unable to save does. Kinda rounds right back to my first points. This helps the grinders and encourages the grind while penalizing saving. Instead of grinders and casuals benefitting the cap specifically hurts more casual players where time is the most valuable resource. I may get a chest piece I want for a character more quickly than now but I'll also be wasting so much more time in orbit, at the tower, and spending marks on frivolous stuff as I collect more instead of saving and doing one quick tower visit at the end of the night. Lol you're probably sick of me repeating and ranting by now I'll try to keep further replies shorter

I on the other hand waste all my marks because they are full and I have nothing I need to buy. But, the difference is I have 1200 in the bank ready to spend on stuff I may need or want. So say I grind one week and fill everything up I don't have to play the next week if I can't or don't want to I can just go buy Multiple new items but now You can't do that either. Now the grind will be daily because there is no real savings.

That's kinda the point I'm against. Combining marks is great but I always had plenty of both so it wasn't an issue for me. I don't want to have to buy stuff so frequently to stay under an artificial cap. I want to save up like now and then buy at the end of the week when I have options. Not only be able to buy one gun or two armor pieces max every other day. Bungie is literally forcing us into an economic model that is incredibly poor from a consumer perspective. Increase frequent spending by adding the cap. This in turn discourages saving increasing the grind during time crunches and increase spur of the moment spending which is likely to be regretted. For a while we will have plenty to spend it on but in a month or two we will have the same problem we have with glimmer now. I'm sure their business psychologists did this deliberately. Like i said in the post every change they made to marks is great except such a low cap. Two steps forward one crippling step back. Bungie even illustrated in stream the problems it can cause when they dismantled and wondered where their marks went. My main worry is arms day. I can easily see having to make the decision...oh I want to save my marks on Monday to buy a weapon arms day. But not I can't do anything Tuesday or waste earning marks. All because the cap is so low instead of closer to our current 1200. Let's not forget all that waste of orbit and tower time when I could just keep playing
