In your opinion, does Destiny multiplayer take skill to compete?
Is the game balanced?
My friend and I are in an ongoing discussion about it. I believe it takes about 60% skill, 40% the gun and stats you use, he believes it takes pure skill to win in Destiny.
He thinks it's balanced and is disappointed with some of the weapon balancing, I think the balancing is needed.
Which of us is right?

-blam!- no all weapons should be 4-5 hit headshots and no stupid burn weapons shot guns should be 2 shot weapons your a God damn superhuman not a blade of grass non of these stupid OP exotics making you stronger and NO SUPER game modes
-
Destiny is essentially a bunch of overpowered classes overpowering each other. It can take some skill, but that's not why it's fun. It's fun because I can thrust my fists into the ground and blow up people around me with electricity
-
It takes skill to survive in the Chaos yes. No matter what anyone says. Is it truly competitive? No, because there's to much bullshit (Chaos)
-
Just use thorn
-
1 ReplyIf you have a Thorn, then no.
-
30% lag 30% gun (might go down to 10% if skilled) Rest skill The lag is real
-
In my opinion, no. It's all about what weapons are more OP. A lot of the weapons have extremely high aim assist, and then you can add perks to increase the aim assist like "Hidden Hand." Then there are guns and grenades that can finish off someone while you're hiding. Axion bolt tracks enemies, flux grenades pretty much handle the radius, thorn can kill while you're hiding behind a crate dancing. Hawkmoon is a one-shot kill potential. Final round is a one shot kill. Snipers with weapons of light are one shot body kills. The weapons and subclass perks are too unbalanced right now to say that this game requires skill.

It is not balanced, but the next patch will probably help a lot. Also there is some skill involved but it's all about knowing your class and abilities, knowing your weapon, and knowing the maps. Destiny PvP is just fun and unique compared to so many shooters

The best players with the worst guns will still own the crumble The worst players with the best guns will barely be a contender The crucible takes skill to succeed in. Guns make the good, even better
-
Zero skill. Here's why. http://youtu.be/AZqjIPS98U0

25% skill 75% connection to game You can be the hammer or the nail in essentially the same lobby if the host changes.

Last word and Felwinter type shotguns takes no skill to get kills with. But to do good in a multiplayer match takes skill, no matter what weapon you use.
-
All skill.
-
It definitely takes skill, to a certain extent. Is it a competitive game with a large skill gap? No way.
-
It obviously takes skill. You can't give the controller to anybody and them get 60 kills in one game, even if they are using thorn. Come on people stop being crybabies about something so meaningless. It's a video game to have fun.
-
umm skill and weapons, if you are skilled you don't need good weapons, but Thorn Last Word and Hawkmoon all do their part

3 RepliesYes, anyone who says no is wrong, it is simply logical. Even in this meta and extremely unbalanced game it takes skill to overcome your foes, as each person in the multiplayer acts differently and you need to adapt to it and beat other living beings. This is why there are people that are better than others, because they are more skilled. You can say that it doesn't take skill because of blink shotgun and final round snipers but not everyone uses those, and even if they did, it would still take skill as you are playing against other humans. For example, in a game like CoD AW (I dislike CoD btw) when the Bal 27 was the most powerful gun in the game by far, and nobody used anything else it still takes skill. You have to be better than all others in order to win, no matter how you play or what weapons you use, in any game.
-
Of course it does. Your loadout is part of your skill, strategy is a skill. Yes some guns are easier to use than others but if two players have the same loadout and one is a better player then of course he is going to win.
-
Nope its takes just luck
-
Takes no skill at all. Game has so much aim assist plus all of the guns that turn it into easy mode.

Edited by Afterimage: 8/17/2015 6:35:28 PM80% skill. 20% gun skill. Funny how people overexaggerate how you needa just equip the op meta stuff then you're magically a killing machine. There's a huge difference between the top players and the average players. The top players understands game mechanics, positioning, radar, when to RUN AWAY. The average player runs around like a normal shooter not approaching anything tactically and trying to rambo everything up. There's a reason why top players or "tryhards" stomp you because they know mechanics and are skilled. I don't care what op weapons or setups you use. At the end of the day, a skilled player like me will wreck you and outplay you anytime of the day.

1 ReplyNot sure how running or blinking at someone with a shotgun and pushing the fire button when you get close is skill but to each his own I guess. I could see if the bullets from the defending guardian at least slowed the shotgun charger down or affected his aim but it doesn't.
-
No, just less lag than the other person
-
1 ReplyNot as much as it would in balanced games that revolve around Gunskill.
