Well, if you buy a game, one presumes you are aware that you are spending millions or at least hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Since you are here, one can presume you reference Destiny. Which you do not buy, strictly speaking.
You buy a license to play it. A license with terms. As a result, you are entitled to the content of that license you purchased, which does not mean that you are entitled, for example, to access to every item within the game or every element of the game.
Again, strictly speaking.
So, your question as asked, while it makes sense to many people who use "buy a game" as a form of shorthand for the purchase of a license, does not actually have real and genuine value as a form of expression unless you are, in fact, talking about buying a game, outright.
Which could not be Destiny (or any other major release), as it is unlikely you are going to spend that kind of money, and it is statistically unlikely that you even have the ability to do so.

Very true. Hence you're playing their game. Their game, their rules. And that's true of all games (unless you made it yourself or bought the rights ect.)
