So I was planning on pre-ordering TTK to make sure I snag all of the bonus content, which I assumed was the Suros Weapon Pack, and the VIP Rewards (shader, sparrow, emblem), but now after looking at the pre-order FAQ, I am completely confused.
1. It seems that since I never bought Dark Below, I simply CAN'T pre-order the Taken King?? That seems odd... Why would you lock potential customers out of a pre-order because they didn't buy a completely different product from you? From the FAQ:
"
What if I only own one of the two previous DLCs?
You need both The Dark Below and House of Wolves to qualify for Destiny: The Taken King – Digital Edition
"
2. Regarding bonuses, it seems like there is no actual bonus for pre-ordering?? According to the FAQ, everything you receive with the pre-order would be awarded to anyone who simply purchased the stand-alone expansion on Day 1:
"
Does this affect my ability to qualify for the weapon pack offers?
All Day 1 Taken King players will automatically qualify for additional weapon pack offers.
How do I qualify for VIP Rewards?
Destiny players who have reached light level 30 or who previously purchased Expansion I and Expansion II by August 31, 2015, will receive an exclusive commemorative Founder's Fortune year 1 Emblem, Sparrow, Armor shader and more at launch with your purchase of The Taken King.
*To be eligible to receive the VIP rewards, players will need to have at least one light level 30 character or own both expansion I and expansion II on or before 08/31/15 and purchase and play The Taken King on or before 02/01/16. VIP rewards applicable only for eligible purchase of Destiny: The Taken King, Destiny: The Taken King - Legendary Edition, and Destiny: The Taken King - Collector's Edition (Digital or Physical).
"
Am I reading this wrong, or is there no actual bonus or benefit to pre-ordering, other than, I don't know, pre-loading? What am I missing here? So if I just go to the PS store on TTK launch day and download it, I get everything?

In order to qualify for the taken king single download, you need to own both previous expansions on the same account. I could tell you that this is because destiny is a continuing game and the story has to continue through to TTK. This is bungies policy and it won't change. You must own both to qualify. Pre orders and day one players of TTK get early access to Suros. It's not a bonus it's just a thank you for buying it early. Everyone else wi get access in January. Not sure why you quoted the VIP rewards, that has nothing to do with pre orders or bonus.
