Can anyone explain TTK pre-order bonuses?

So I was planning on pre-ordering TTK to make sure I snag all of the bonus content, which I assumed was the Suros Weapon Pack, and the VIP Rewards (shader, sparrow, emblem), but now after looking at the pre-order FAQ, I am completely confused. 1. It seems that since I never bought Dark Below, I simply CAN'T pre-order the Taken King?? That seems odd... Why would you lock potential customers out of a pre-order because they didn't buy a completely different product from you? From the FAQ: " What if I only own one of the two previous DLCs? You need both The Dark Below and House of Wolves to qualify for Destiny: The Taken King – Digital Edition " 2. Regarding bonuses, it seems like there is no actual bonus for pre-ordering?? According to the FAQ, everything you receive with the pre-order would be awarded to anyone who simply purchased the stand-alone expansion on Day 1: " Does this affect my ability to qualify for the weapon pack offers? All Day 1 Taken King players will automatically qualify for additional weapon pack offers. How do I qualify for VIP Rewards? Destiny players who have reached light level 30 or who previously purchased Expansion I and Expansion II by August 31, 2015, will receive an exclusive commemorative Founder's Fortune year 1 Emblem, Sparrow, Armor shader and more at launch with your purchase of The Taken King. *To be eligible to receive the VIP rewards, players will need to have at least one light level 30 character or own both expansion I and expansion II on or before 08/31/15 and purchase and play The Taken King on or before 02/01/16. VIP rewards applicable only for eligible purchase of Destiny: The Taken King, Destiny: The Taken King - Legendary Edition, and Destiny: The Taken King - Collector's Edition (Digital or Physical). " Am I reading this wrong, or is there no actual bonus or benefit to pre-ordering, other than, I don't know, pre-loading? What am I missing here? So if I just go to the PS store on TTK launch day and download it, I get everything?

  • Wait, wait... I'm seeing in a different discussion that we MUST OWN both of the previous expansions in order to buy TTK???? Please tell me this is not the case... that we are being forced to buy previous (soon to be irrelevant) content in order to buy the new expansion?? I bought House of Wolves, and was never forced to buy Dark Below... Had no interest in the content, so I didn't buy it. Now I will have to spend an extra $20 on content I'll never play, just to have the ability to buy the latest expansion? Bungie - Please tell me this is not the case, and in fact only pre-orders of TTK are locked out for folks who didn't buy both expansions (which obviously also makes no sense, but my god please don't tell me I'll be getting essentially a $20 service charge in order to buy TTK)
