STOP WHINING.. We had fun getting the gear and grinding for it.. It served it's purposes and I had a blast. I enjoyed every moment of that grind. If you didn't, just GTFO and go play something else and stop polluting these forums with constant crying.
There are issues that require legitimate discussions and criticism from us about the game (networking, lag switching, vault spaces etc etc) but constantly whining how you grinded and how you are not appreciated. A lot of us Day 1 players and veteran Destiny players are sick it of it already.
We had a year of playing with the guns and had a blast. It's time to move on. If you can't get excited about that instead of whining and crying then go play something else FFS.
I have 3300 hours in Destiny and have every single item and gun in the game including tons of other things. I grinded the shit out of this game and had a blast every second of it.. This is not some monumental achievement. It's a game and I had playing it while grinding.
If you feel that you deserve a prize for playing the game than you have to rethink your existence. And if you feel that grind is unrewarding and not fun than, again, go play something else.

You had fun every moment for over 3300 hours? I don't even believe that would be physiologically possible. How in the hell can anyone find mindlessly running the exact same thing with no variation or reward fun! No criticism, just curious.

Collecting all items, leveling them up, seeing the effect of those weapons/armor, playing with friends, helping others do raids, nightfalls and using the guns I've grinded for and then switching them up etc etc etc.. Plus new DLCs always produced additional satisfaction and the movement for the game, despite it's shortcomings and positives. The game does a lot of things great and it's a shooter first and foremost. You can ask the same question how Call of Duty players can play 8 maps over and over again with same guns and love it to death? Destiny is FAR bigger and more involved game than Call of Duty. So the answer to your question is simple. Plus, this was my path: 1. I'll make a hunter cause it looks cool 2. I'll level up my hunter 3. Oh, why don't I make another hunter and do things twice a week for loot (exciting and rewarding) 4. Oh why don't I make a 3rd hunter and do it 3 times for the juice loot and trying to get my character up. 5. There's no way I'll play this game anymore and create new characters. 6. Hey, why don't I try to make a warlock and see how it is by playing with a warlock's abilities 7. Oh damn, this is so nice, I'm going to delete my 3rd hunter and create another warlock cause this is too much fun 8. I think I'm done with the game and i probably won't make a Titan.. i think I'm fine with the way it is. 9. See Titans in action... Damn I should probably delete a 2nd warlock and make a Titan and play with it's abilities (lots of fun) 10. Oh damn, the Dark Below is here.. time to get those guns up and ready and rock it out 11. Need to get those raid sets and get me those awesome guns like Fang of Ir Yut, Black Hammer, Nechrochasm etc etc (loving it) 12. House of Wolves lands (Excited as a puppy) 13. OOOOH Trials of Osiris (playing Crucible religiously) .. oh Prison of Elders .. new gear, different sets, Iron Banner etc etc The year was fun all around.. I was frustrated sometimes with some decisions that Bungie made but they usually address them. It will be no different with Taken King.
