Surprisingly HoW as a whole was more of a disappointment than TDB was. PoE after the first cycle (maybe even before that) became extremely stale. The rewards (cores) were "too easily" given out and the 35 rewards were given out not enough. ToO is a higher level player content and as a result some percentage of the player base would not attempt or stopped after the first week or so. Lack of matchmaking, repetitiveness and the lack of commensurate rewards in PoE and the structure of ToO has led to people not playing endgame content or not playing destiny at all.

  • Well said. I had a feeling HOW would disappoint the second they announced it wouldn't include a raid

  • It's a shame too. Because PoE as a stand alone is "fun" enough. But as the ONLY PvE content it is not enough to hold anyone's attention. Especially because of how they structured the loot system. If I were Bungie King for a day I would have made vendor and dropped gear top out at level 33. PoE 34 is the only way to get armor cores that will buy you level 34 gear. Etheric light would be given at PoE 32 but EL is only able to be used on weapons, not armor. And PoE 35 gives out weapon core and a guaranteed primary elemental weapon.

  • My theory is that PoE (not so much ToO unless PvP players didn't raid) was meant to get players who either never raided or new players to quickly and easily get to max light level prior to TTK's release. This way "everyone" could participate in the new DLC. Because if you didn't raid in vanilla, when TDB came out, you could not do the raid for the most part. Then once you purchased vendor gear you could still only participate in the normal mode CE not HM.

  • Yeah I think a big part of it was to have something for the people who didn't raid but I think they misunderstood the reason for why allot didn't raid. It wasn't because it was too difficult to get those extra three guys to make a group if six, it was because it was too much if a inconvenience to organize your own fireteam
