A trading system, no matter what way they spin it, would result in the death of the game incredibly quick. -No more stocking coins waiting for Xur to come to purchase his weekly stock or exotic engrams -No more grinding nightfall on three characters hoping for that one specific exotic you've been really wanting -No more leveling Iron Banner to pick up the weapons and armor being sold -Why even try going flawless or beating Skolas? That elemental primary you want can just be traded to you -Coveted weapons like Dry Rot for PvE and Hopscotch Pilgrim for PvP dropped from Dragon Strikes? Why bother grinding strikes for an undetermined amount of time, just get one from a buddy! Easy! Seriously, within a month or so every player would have whatever they ever wanted and then some, which would lead to quickly maxing it all, which would plummet demand and rarity of many weapons while also seeing record lows for participation in most activities and events, which leads to people growing bored, which leads to their friends leaving for other games, which results in much of the community quitting or moving on, feeling there isn't much else to do or a real point in doing those things except the players who would still do them for fun. Bungie wouldn't give their game a death sentence that heavy.

And what gave you that impression? Please do explain, because for the life of me I can't even fathom how you could arrive at such a simplistic bullshit conclusion like that in response to my post, which was thought out, explained well, and had several points behind it that all made perfect logical sense. Don't worry, I'll wait.

  • None of what you said has any merit whatsoever. If someone had to grind their ass off in order to gain those items, then why in the hell would they be giving any of that away to some little shit who just started the game. On top of that the small amount of people who would gain easy access to the good items no longer applies for a few reasons. First off if you actually knew the changes that the "taken king" are going to make, then you would know that all of what you said makes no sense at all on top of the fact that as the game progresses then so does the number of rare and hard to achieve items. But over any of that, how could a trading system kill Destiny when WoW has flourished perfectly with a trade system. Nothing is ever going to be perfect the first time around but that's why there's trial and error. With the amount of free will they will be giving us with the future of this game a trading system is not only wanted but also necessary for this game's survival. This game is in fact an MMO and those with experience in those games know full well that the game needs a player driven economy in order to extend and enhance the life of the game. It has been proven that a trading system was intended originally for the game to begin with thats why we have an rng loot system. If you're going to make a point about something then at least know what you're talking about before you make a comment. I have been playing MMO's for a long time and could garentee that trading would only help to make Destiny a better game. If you limit what players can do then that's what kills a game not giving players more freedom. You cannot tell me that you don't have an over excess amount of materials and such that you have an absolute need for. All those materials could be used to help your friends that joined the game late so that they can enjoy the experience that you have enjoyed without having to put up with the disappointment of an rng loot system that doesn't reward the amount of effort but just rewards for effort in general. This game was redesigned with making it as even as possible. No matter how hard anyone tries, someone is always going to try and exploit something in a game.

  • ๏ Destiny is a crossbreed between FPS and MMO, taking characteristics of both ๏ Compared to WoW, Destiny is about twenty times smaller with far less items and a very small number of weapons that are seen as ones that actually matter ๏ Many players have had multiples of some of the weapons deemed more rare or desirable, when at the same time hundreds post here about how that weapon alludes them ๏ With a trade system, that "grind" will cease to exist BECAUSE of how few desirable weapons there are and how many players have multiples of those weapons With a trade system in THIS game, people would simply trade their excess weapons to their friends or people on the forum. Everyone swaps around the weapons they have multiples of, and then before you know it, anything worth having will be had and within a short amount of time the number of active players will dwindle. Yes, there will be a boost around the drop of Taken King, but once all of the dust settles, nobody will really feel much of a challenge with obtaining rare weapons because there will always be a market for them. That'll also open up the doors for a thing console players love, which is running items and services for money. We already have people all over paying or "donating" to be carried through trials, and there are sites out there offering leveling services, maxing subclasses, etc, as soon as trading becomes open, so will the opportunities to make money selling items players want.

  • Riddle me this then, if the trading system would cause such an issue then how come we have so many issues with vault space. Most players aren't using the materials and extra stuff that they have as is but don't want to get rid of it because they gain nothing from discarding most materials. That being such a big issue is yet another reason that Destiny needs a trading system. Players in WoW can buy with real money a multitude of things that are against what Blizzard wants but the game has and still is the largest MMO on the market. Further more just because Destiny is a FPS doesn't mean anything that's just the style of game play and has nothing to do with adding anything to the game. Not only that but what you've stated about the trading system has only covered a small amount of what could be traded. Those opposed to trading are almost entirely focused on the idea of gear and weapon trading, but what about the over abundance of materials that everyone has. Besides the rares that you brought up would still stay rare, because no matter how you spin it, the vast majority of players who grinded their asses off for those rare weapons are very unlikely to want to part with them. your idea of everyone gaining all the super rares is wrong for two main reasons: First reason being that as I said before, the vast majority of players across all platforms are not going to be willing to part with the rares they worked so hard for, and will not be willing to flood the market. By the time those rares could actually flood the market a whole cluster -blam!- of new ones would be available. A perfect example of why a trading system could work in destiny is the game defiance. It has a completely open trading system that works perfectly fine and its a shooter mmo as well. Second reason, as I had also stated before, if you actually knew what is coming up in the "Taken King" then you would know that the sheer amount of content being added would be well more than enough to support a free and open trading system. Just because a few players would give their friends doesn't mean that a flood would happen. You're just basing your opinions off of loosely gathered information. Your original post is far from "well thought out" The fact that you have no numbers or statistics to support your thoughts alone is enough to prove you wrong. There are roughly around 16,000,000 (16 million) players on destiny. That is far more people than when WoW launched, and if I'm not mistaken, WoW launched vanilla with a trading system, yet look at how well it turned out. On top of all of that, with the massive amount of content, gear, and weapons that'll be added in the "Taken King" and the amount customization that players will be given to choose how their gear and weapons will be used is immense. Bungie wants to give a lot more freedom and choice to the community, and to deny us a trading system would only prove to destroy that freedom and choice they are trying to give to the players. So what if someone wants to trick some idiot into buying shit or if people want to be lazy, that's their choice and they're entitled to it. Trading needs to be free and open so that players can work together to create a second economy in the game that will help fuel far more love and gameplay. Let me give you an example, in the "Taken King" players will be given the ability to have more control over how their weapons and gear will affect their character, with that being said trading will flood the market with materials allowing players to focus on building not just the character but the gear and weapons, and to customize the way they want to. Which in turn would slow down player level progression due to the shift in the players focus. Destiny has seemed lackluster due to the fact that the main focus was to push for level cap. But if players have more that they're willing to poor focus I.E. time and energy, then the longer and more interested players will be about the game. Players will be far more willing to play and stay on the game if they have more that they can do and trading is the exact thing that destiny needs in order to open that up. Bungie has already stated that the vault space is something that is hard to work on, if that the case then trading again is what can fix that. Players won't need more space if they have something they can do with the excess materials they have lying around. I myself am sitting on a ton of radiant, ascendant, and exotic shards and energy on top of having tons of other materials that'll just be wasted if i decide to scrap them, if i get rid of them i have nothing else i can gain for them. Trading them is the logical choice. New players will have a need for them and i can give them away because it wouldn't be any different from just scrapping them. Except that someone else could use them and that's "recycling."

  • I think it would be ok if the trade system made you trade something of equal or greater value then the item you are trading for
