I've been trying to find out the same thing. The collectors edition on the Playstation Store is $119 .. I paid $130 for the original game plus the two expansions... Is this another example of the Australia tax? Or do they not care about pricing outside the US.

  • Exchange rate is the cost of buying currency - it is not an indicator of what the price should, or ought to be, for goods in any particular region. Most publishers have a regional pricing strategy. "Australia Tax" will be a factor in pricing, and also the fact that Digital prices are pegged to to in store retail prices. Also not sure if US prices includes sales taxes. Australian prices include GST. Probably not advisable to compare a "collectors edition" to Vanilla plus Expansions. The Ghost edition was $150. TTK CE is $120. But the value proposition depends on how you feel about collectible items. You wouldn't pay that if you are only interested in the game, so it is not an interesting comparison to make for most unless they are trying to argue that Publisher A is evil.

  • What ever your justification, and what ever the country, the cost of this "expansion" is a rip off. We've been charged to play an expensive beta up until now, and only now after HOW, TDB and the 2.0 patch can bungie claim they have released a full game. If they released everything that is available now on day one they would have had many more loyal fans that would be happy to pay for an expansion, instead theyve broken the game up into little pieces and asked us to pay for content that should have been there from the start and to fix problems that shouldn't have been there from the start.

  • The reason that The Taken King is approximately 33% (yeah, it's about a third more) in Australia is because Bungievision think they can get away with it and they have no respect whatsoever for their customers. There are multiple posts in multiple sections of the forum asking about the price disparity between the US and other regions. Bungie have not posted in a single one of them. They clearly have no justifiable answer or they would be shouting it from the rooftops. Bungievision are blinded by greed, and too arrogant to care about what their customers think. I hope this dlc will be a wake up call to them, as I expect the price to plummet when sales don't meet expectations. Wait a month or two and the price might actually be reasonable. Here's hoping...
