I check a player's Grimoire score rather then their character's level to get a rough idea of what I'm about to work with when asked to join a fireteam but am wondering if there's an even better measure to use.
Thoughts?

Edited by BxLegendary: 7/31/2015 12:39:55 AMGrimoire is probably your best bet. In my book, 0-1500 = Fresh Meat 1500-2000 = Newbie 2000-2800 = Average Experience 2800-3200 = Experienced 3200-3500 = Veterans 3500-3600 = Gods (This is all just what I see at first glance, though you could very well be a God with 1000 Grimoire.) Player level doesn't mean sh*t (90% of the time).

Grimoire is the definition of experience
-
If they have over 2500 I'm fine with it but I can work with lower than that

Hey guys, my grimoir is at 3,170. Besides getting like 4-5 ghosts I don't have, anyone wanna share some easy grimoir to get with me? I want to get it passed my friends score. He's in the 3,300's. Help would be much appreciated.

3550 here.. And not check that much when invited. Not much left to do, i just try to enjoy the game.
no ToO lighthouse spotted yet
And if player(s) are newbie or whatever I dont mind to help.
war..war never changes
Ask them to have VOG gear.
-
my grim. is 3005 I could increase it if i: -played classes I don't like. -played Crucible modes I don't like. -use weapons I don't like. -ghost hunt. none of the thing I listed would make me a "better" player.
-
Weaps, gear and level appropriate for the activity. That is all I care about until you start playing and talking.
-
Definitely not character level. I've seen 34s that were absolutely trash.
-
I have a 3100 almost 3200 (I know it's low) but I can complete all the end game activities no problem and am a day one player.
-
I check weapons armies and perks.

I think it's funny when people jump to conclusions on skill. Not every good player has amazing games. People have good games and people have bad or average games. You'll notice the more you play, the harder players you'll face. It's all matchmaking. You'll notice you'll have a really good game where you go 30+ or 40+, but that's honestly because you got put into a lobby of players that aren't exactly of your skill level. You have to be comfortable with your skill level to assess if your average game was due to you playing badly or going against other people of your skill level.
-
If you judge someone, do it by their actual skill and not just assume things through numbers.
-
im sitting at a 3k grimoire, could boost it to 3250-3300 with ghost/wanted fallen hunting
-
How about not judging others ? -blam!- no that wouldn't make you feel special would it
-
Grim score and pvp medal score.

Edited by garbaaj: 8/1/2015 12:36:33 AMGrimoire score to me isnt a measure of skill, but experience. A player could have max grimoire, and experienced all aspects of the game... But could still be bad 0-2350 new 2350-2550 gaining experience at a higher level 2550-2800 gaining raid experience 2800-3100 confident in raids 3100-3350 more experienced than many 3350-3500 highly experienced 3500-3620/3665 experiences and can hold own in all aspects of the game
-
Both and a test run
-
I would say grimoire is just a measure of playtime. But I also use it as a guide to see the experience of a player. It doesn't say a ton because I have friends with around 3400 grimoire and they are absolutely terrible.
-
If their gamer tag begins and ends with Xx or X then no skillz
-
By how well they actually do. That's usually the best way to determine skill.
-
I check it grimoire as well. I know grimoire isn't a full proof indicator of skill but when I'm playing too and everyone on the opposing team is 3400 and up its usually a very difficult match.
-
Listen for squeaks or is a mouth breathing dragon.
-
-
I'd say a combination of both. But neither really matter. Since Destiny is part FPS, players who've played other FPS's could carry that skill through. Same goes for MMORPG's and the skills involved with those types of games. The level just helps you complete endgame things. Grimoire just helps you have a better understanding of the game (IMO).

Grimoire score would be safe a bet to judge a players experience
