Oh there is definitely something to those phrases.
People knock destiny for lack of Story, which is only shortsightedly true.
When Bungie gets around to telling the tale of the Nine, I bet you all those quotes (and more, in the grimoire) will provide metric crap tons of excellent story.
The Nine have one of the most fascinating grimoire cards out there. My bet is on:
The Nine are ancient leviathan intelligences from the seas of Europa or the hydrocarbon pits of Titan.

NINE has significance in numerology, buddhism and esotercism of the Abrahamic faiths. It's the only number that when you add the digits of its square, you end up back with nine.

Edited by BloodyAlien243: 9/1/2015 2:28:26 AMWhat about 4? And also, 3+3=9? Where is your logic.
-
Edited by MadJackMcJock: 9/1/2015 5:51:56 PM9 squared is 81. 8 plus 1 is 9. Also the root of 9 is 3, which is the beginning of multiplicity. No idea about 4, but in ancient architecture it is somewhat connected to the material world, eg. The 4 cardinal points.

Edited by xIDEKAx: 7/12/2015 7:28:39 PMOnly speculation from me here cause I've barely read any grimoire cards, but that reference about Titan and Europa....new raid is out by Saturn....maybe the DLC's after TTK will introduce us to The Nine? *edit* yes I know Europa orbits Jupiter

Love this idea, nice one!

That grimoire line makes them sound very terrifying

Right? The only truly alien aliens so far are the vex (and maybe the traveller) but even the vex have anthropomorphic qualities. Let's seem some truly alien stuff :-)
