PSN down: The PlayStation Network has been hit by fresh outages today on PS4 and PS3 UPDATE 3 July 7: Sony have confirmed that the PS Store is currently being updated as users on the PS4 continue to be affected by problems connecting to key online gaming features. The PSN was taken down for planned maintenance last Monday and has been hit by intermittent problems ever since. The PlayStation Now service has also been listed as a service currently being affected by the latest outage by Sony. " You may be experiencing issues related to accessing content from PlayStation Now. We appreciate your patience while we address this." Affected Platforms for PlayStation now includes: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Other. UPDATE 2 July 7: A new update from Sony confirms that they have their engineers looking into the latest problem affecting gamer's trying to play online and access titles on the PS4 and PS3. "Engineers are investigating issues with the PSN connectivity; thanks for your patience." No ETA has been supplied by Sony on how long the PSN is likely to be down for, other outages have lasted several hours to mere minutes. UPDATE 1 JULY 7: New reports are coming in today from PS4 and PS3 users that the PSN has been hit by a fresh outage. Gamers using the Sony console say that they are unable to play games online or access the PS Store, but can use video apps such as Netflix. One user wrote: "When I turn my ps4 on its says I'm connected. "But when I put a game in it tells me I can't use network features then disconnects from PSN." Sony have confirmed issues are currently affecting the Store functions, as well as key gaming features. A post from the company reads: "You may be experiencing issues related to launching games, applications, and/or social features such as trophies, messaging, or friends list. "You may be experiencing issues related to features on PlayStation Store. "We appreciate your patience while we address this." Last week's spike in server instability lasted up to six hours for some users and has been underlying issue affecting both PlayStation and Xbox customers in 2015. Today's issues first started being reported by fans at around 4pm, UK time. UPDATE: The unscheduled downtime currently affecting the PS4 and PS3 consoles started on first of a three-day weekend for many users in the United States. Sony console owners are currently unable to do anything that requires a connection to the network, while some are reporting problems simply logging into the PSN. One fan wrote: "My entire family was going to be gone today and I was really getting ready to grind out some hours in TLOUR and Planetside 2. The PlayStation Service Status page still lists problems with account management, gaming & social, and PlayStation Video, with these services seeing no change in status since 7PM, UK time. The status page also list the PlayStation NOW service being down as well: "You may be experiencing issues related to accessing content from PlayStation Now. We appreciate your patience while we address this." Fans in the UK have been struggling to gain access to key features since 6:30pm, with the same issues affecting those in North America. An official post from the PlayStation Support team reads: "We're aware that PSN is experiencing connectivity issues. "Thank you for your patience as we investigate." This week has seen several outages for those using Sony consoles, following a recent update that was released to help improve overall stability. Xbox users have also experienced outages this week, although it is unclear what has caused the recent online troubles. UPDATE: Users trying to log on to their PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 Sony consoles are big hit by the error code: CE-33987-0. This error code from Sony is connected to internet connection: "You may have a problem connecting to PlayStation Network ("PSN") as your network connection has timed out during the PSN sign-in process." The Sign-in process is currently down for most people, while those who have access cannot use key features such as their friends list, Video apps and the PSN Store. UPDATE: The PlayStation Service Status page has provided an update on the current situation facing fans on the PS4 and PS3, connecting the current problems to the account management system. The only two services that aren't currently being reported by Sony to be experiencing issues is PlayStation Now and PlayStation VUE. "You may be experiencing issues related to signing in or creating an account on PlayStation Network," the support team statement reads. "You may be experiencing issues related to launching games, applications, and/or social features such as trophies, messaging, or friends list. "You may be experiencing issues related accessing Video Unlimited content. "We appreciate your patience while we address this."
