This is not about Rasputin but I am looking for someone to clarify this:
I believe that the Hive's "Gods" are promoted and infused with darkness after doing amazing things. For example, Crota was given the Sword by the Swarm Princes. Crota then stopped an invasion of the Hellmouth (which holds all of the Hives knowledge of its previous conquests). The Swarm Princes then enacted a ritual to "Promote" Crota to God status.
Any thoughts?

No Crota was a god in the first place at least beforehand. He is the one who took the moon from us.

Crap, that was busted. I still think that the goal of the average Hive creature is to somehow evolve to become a god. Through worship, suffering, ect.
