Cheesing is very popular among the Destiny community. In fact, it's popular in every game but the term "cheesing" has gained it's infamy in our community. I've cheesed before, but I never supported it and it never ceases to amaze me that the people that do so don't get reprimanded or better yet, suspended or better yet for severe offences or frequent offenders: BANNED! My criticisms of cheesing began during the era of "disconnecting Crota." This was something I thought people should be banned for due to the prominence of literally pulling out your Ethernet cord to glitch a boss, but alas, the devs were too soft. Now before you tell me that I'm insane, let me enlighten you with some events in which this happened in another game. In WOW: Wrath of the Lich King, the world's first team to beat the raid glitched the boss by intentionally avoiding one of the mechanics. The team was subsequently stripped of their gear and raid completion. That kind of consequence for not playing legit I believe should be used in Destiny. Although many of these have been patched, let's say hypothetically that they weren't. Let's look at possible punishments. :
1. Mild case (Cheesing Templar, Atheon or bridge, heavy glitch): A warning followed by a week long ban for frequent offenders
2. Moderate case (Lag switching Crota): 3 week long ban followed by lifetime ban for frequent offenders.
3. Severe cases (Hunter glitch, Heavy glitch in PvP) are usually dealt with.
So I think I've made my point. I'm certainly open to listening to different opinions or suggestions. If you agree, let's bump it for Bungie! Good hunting Guardians!

Edited by Kone19ps: 7/2/2015 9:30:14 PMYour definition of cheese is pretty broad, but I like how you define it a little. For example I don't consider lag switching Crota cheesing. It's just plain manipulation and should carry a small penalty. Not huge like pvp manipulation but like a week temporary ban or something unless there is repeat offense. Cheesing like the bridge is fine and just bungies responsibility to actually fix. Seems they have just gone with the raid will be irrelevant with time anyways though so no need to fix
-
You're saying they should punish us for their bad design skills. Uhhh...huh..
-
Or they just fix the cheeses?
-
In your first sentence you invalidated your argument. And no, they shouldn't punish us for cheesing. And here's why... Most of us cheese because Bungie hasn't fixed any of the raid-breaking bugs (Like Crota walking into your starter room for the boss fight and shit on your fireteam, or having Atheon moving the entire fireteam to another dimension, or the bridge on CE looks like it's there but it's not really and your team falls through it while walking across, these are just some of the super-bullshit bugs). As soon as Bungie fixes those game-breaking bugs, then most people will stop cheesing, watch. I've only done 2 CEs and I hated both of them because of all of the game-breaking bugs. In both of these raids my fireteam and I had to cheese the bridge because it refused to appear for the 6th guy everytime. It wasn't fun. On VoG ( I only completed 2 or 4 times, I forgot) and it wasn't fun (the bosses weren't fun) because the oracles would glitch and some wouldn't appear for us (you can't kill what you can't see) and we would get wiped over, and over, and over, and over, and over again. Then there were game-breaking bugs with Atheon too (because the invisible oracle bug wasn't shitty enough for us) where he would teleport the entire team to Venus or Mars, or where he would cage-trap the people on Venus or Mars, or the relic wouldn't appear for anyone, and there was that one time when Atheon was already dead but the game was saying: "Just kidding!" and teleport us all back to mars with no way back. Bungie, fix your damn game! So we have a reason not to cheese!
-
That's -blam!-in stupid!!!
-
Can't cheese anything anymore. The so called "glitches" are using the game mechanics to your advantage, which isn't cheesing seeing as they are encrypted in the game, like the heavy ammo drop, it's part of the games code to make sure players don't run out of ammo.
-
For PvE, it is irrelevant. For PvP, I believe people should be banned. Poor sportsmanship (okay, video-gamesmanship) via cheating or 'cheesing' in player versus player should not be tolerated. You push the Templar's dumbass off a cliff? That's Bungie not doing their job. They'll fix it and we move on. Proclaiming to be morally superior in a PvE gaming world is your prerogative. Start a clan with like minded individuals an go about your business, but spare us your rants.
-
Im almost poaitive punishments are distributed via loot table matrix. More cheese = horrific loot table
-
Its human nature for most people to take the easy route.
-
You've done it. I hope you checked "No" on the poll. Actions speak louder than words, and all that.
-
So by most peoples responses, using the change character glitch on trials is OK.
-
Did someone cheese crota and it messed up your gameplay while you were doing the nightfall? because that would be the only way cheesing would be punishable. If someone else's gameplay doesn't affect YOUR gameplay than its stupid to even bring it up. Cheesing won't be punishable. Bungie devs have clearly stated multiple times that people cheesing something is how they fix the game and make it better. Feel free to look it up because I don't have the link and I'm not gonna look for it either jus to please you...I know I'm right. So therefore, cheesing things in game actually helps bungie rectify shortcomings in their game and gives them an opportunity to fix it. Cbeesing won't be punishable ever. Cheating on the other hand is, because that affects someone else's gameplay. Stop crying about how other people play the game THEY PURCHASED,not you, not me...THEM!!!
-
Edited by Gogmazios: 7/2/2015 4:03:06 PMI've never completed the CE bridge legitimately. I tried once but my team found it to be too tedious. If there was a patch I would be more inclined to do it the real way. But I agree that lag switching is irritating.
-
If a game can be glitch a player should not be punished. It is the responsibility of the company to not make faulty product. Period. Full stop.
-
If Bungie doesn't want people to cheese then they should put in a more reliable reward system that doesn't require countless repeats. If cheesing the Templar that I've already beat legit saves me time on something that is no longer fun and engaging then you can bet your boots I'm gonna do it without a shred of guilt. I'm alright with punishing cheesers only IF they make the reward system better to compensate.
-
Have you got nothing better to post about?..
-
And if crota glitch, or something like that will he get a 3 week ban to?
-
Cant ban someone for something you broke. I personally think it's easier to just do the bridge on crota the right way, especially on normal lol. But other then that, if they don't want someone to do something in a particular way, just fix it, or make it impossible to do.
-
Maybe u should go play WOW since your all on their dick
-
Edited by Seamus720: 7/2/2015 4:12:10 PM"I've cheesed before, but never supported it": rest of argument=invalid If you've done it before, then you have supported it. And on a personal note, Crota cheesed me WAY more than I cheesed him. I will agree that cherrypicking and lagswitching are both total BS as they directly affect other players and the game experience in general, but cheesing the bridge when you have done it legit, no big deal.
-
I've only ever done the bridge exploit and used the heavy ammo glitch for HM. But if they fixed the glitchy CE raid we wouldn't need to use the heavy glitch. Lag switching and glitching in PvP should be dealt with as it is cheating. Lag switching in PvE (I still can't believe people do it) only hurts yourself.
-
Edited by Hektik: 7/2/2015 3:40:52 PMPoints 2 and 3 are flat out cheating. If you're going to complain about cheesing then you need to ask yourself one question. Do you complete the VoG jumping puzzle everytime you run VoG? If the answer is no then you are a cheeser. The VoG jumping puzzle by pass is the first raid cheese ever done in Destiny. And I feel confident is saying everyone does it. OP will ignore this because I'm sure they are guilty of the jumping puzzle bypass

I was discussing this last night with a few of my buddies cant remember last time i did crota bridge legit which was fun for most part a cheese it when theres only 3 or 4 of us playing but am shocked its not been patched especially in last raid fix update
-
You play how you want and don't worry about how others play it doesn't affect you. But I am against pvp cheaters
-
I agree to a certain point. Firstly let me say that I firmly believe there is a difference between cheating and cheesing. I personally would lump the crota Ethernet glitch into the straight up cheating category and I wouldn't have minded of players who did that were stripped of they're completion and gear. That being said I feel like the templar cheese and the bridge cheese are not cheating here's why. Ultimately it's game mechanics that allow you to do it. Guy with sword jumps across the bridge uses sword and swing to assist with this task along with a high jump. All of which is technically allowed through combining game mechanics. Now that's not to say I don't want to do the bridge legit (to this day still have never done it but would love to just can't find a team who does it that way). Again with templar cheese we were using aoe grenades to move him. It makes sense that he would back up from an aoe attack and again this is allowed through the use of game mechanics. As a result I don't feel these offenses afoul be punishable. In fact I think that by the shear creativity of these solutions that rewards are just. Yes technically you're not completing it in the manner intended by the devs but you're in my opinion also not cheating since your using abilities that are in the game.

Doesn't make a difference in PVE. Now if it's against real people in PVP sure but against AI? Meh.
