What's a competetive K/D?
Warlock 1.3
Hunter 1.7
(these are last i checked)
I know I'm not the best guardian in crucible, but I know I'm not the worse. Just wanted to get a feeling on what is a "good" vs. "bad" k/d.
I've seen a lot of opinions being ignored or dissmised because of a "bad" k/d and i wanted to get a feel from the community.

1 ReplyEdited by Sixclicks: 7/16/2015 5:57:01 PMK/D doesn't necessarily indicate a good player because there are plenty of stat-padders out there that just pitch a tent and camp so they can max their K/D. If you just play the game without thinking about your K/D first and actually play the objective, then your K/D becomes relevent. Honestly anything over a 1.5 is pretty good imo. 1.0 is average (even though the average Destny player has a K/D below 1.0). If I were to just hang back and not play the objective like some players do, I'd easily have over a 2.0 no doubt. In fact, in games where I don't have to rush the objective constantly because I have a good team capable of holding the objectives, I nearly always have over a 2.0. But since I find that incredibly boring and actually like a more aggressive playstyle, I have a 1.73 on my Hunter, 1.65 on my Warlock, and a 1.73 on my Titan. Unless you play mostly Clash. K/D (and kills per game) actually matters a lot more then.

A good player tends to be a person with a 1.5 or above. Very good is about 2.0 and above. Most top tier players have above a 2.75 at least, but remember that this is just my experience with other players and in no way is set in stone. There are definitely exceptions to what I'm saying.

I think somewhere around 1.7. If you're a good player you will naturally have a weekly KD somewhere around a1.7 regardless of how many losses you've had. It's not about your overall progress but more about your weekly to monthly progress.

I'm around 1.1 to 1.3 on each one . Have 1 of each. I have fun and usually get top of the board. But I play solo and a lot of control.

1.5. People above a 2 something actively think about k.d. If your trying hard to have a good k.d and it's only 1.5 then you aren't good.

My K/D is average. Would easily be 2.0 if I was more reserved. I tend to attack and capture

It doesn't really matter as long as your a team player. I have 1.4s to 1.7s. I could really care less about my k/d as long as I know what points to capture and and know how to kill people I don't care

Well i really dont play alot of crucible unless theres inferno control but i almost have a 3.0 on my titan since thats the only one i really try with, so maybe that? Idk

The kds on each character is kinda dumb, so do your overall kd.

I'd say anything lower than 1.2 is bad . 1.2 to 1.6 is decent . And 1.7+ is good

I've seen players with a 1.3-1.5 k/d with a pretty low CR (105). I have a 1.06 between all 3 of my characters and a CR of 1.04. Conversely, I've seen k/d's near my own mediocre one with CRs of around 130. I would rank CR: Below 100_below average (doesn't know maps or game mechanics very well, rushes into 3v1s more often than not, usually lands in bottom 3 in 6v6 or bottom player in 3v3) 101 - 125 _average (struggles with consistency and game awareness but can get top player occasionally in low skilled lobbies...hey, that's me!) 126 - 150_good (can carry some games, more consistent, usually a top 3 player on team) 151 - 175_excellent (carries pub teams consistently, rarely out of top 2 on team, used to winning) 176 - 200_beast (probably a top 2% player (overall), probably almost never goes negative in pub matches, probably has winning % in the 80s+) 201+_top dawg (top 1% player, crusher of hope, probably streams) EDIT: changed the ranges of "beast" and "top dawg" EDIT 2: these ranges only reflect my opinion/experience and is not based in science. Also, sorry TC for hijacking your thread.

I like to experiment with guns So my kd sux Use op weapons just to see how many kills I get, gets sooooo boring

I'm ok KD wise,I main my hunter in pvp but it's all about the "W" I don't care about anything else.K/d is not a determining factor of a skilled player,rather a indicator.

Well, anything is competitive. But generally you want above 1 simply so you can say you helped more than you hurt.

I take K/D with a grain of salt. I've had times where my K/D was around 2.0 on three characters each, but between making new characters and varying levels of how much I feel like trying at times, I've been up and down from 1.0's to 1.7's lately, bouncing back and forth. I can do pretty damn good and be that guy leading our team with a few thousand more points than the guy below me, or I can be that guy who dances on every single opponent I kill or get with a team of friends and play hide-and-seek with the enemy team lol. A high K/D can show that someone is either very good, or they like to kill from way back / get a kill and run their ass off to survive, and on the other hand a low K/D can be a bad player, or simply someone who enjoys assing around frequently. Nothing like going into Trials and being that guy who garners little concern when seeing his K/D and then proceeds to 5-0 the opponents who underestimated you lol.

1.5 in my opinion. You do your team good than your good..... M slowly working destiny tracker kd from a .13 from when I played Christmas time. .83 now!!

Kd + combat score is the real making of a skilled player.

K/D is nothing if you don't actually win the game.

Anything above 1.0 is good. After 1.5 you are very good. 2.0 or more then you are a beast, sir.

The way I rank it is if it's below 0.90 than your need to practice 1.0 is people who ate decent 1.50 it's not to bad you know your stuff 2.0 your a well seasoned veteran and are slightly feared in pvp if your kd is above 3.0 you are feared and a great member of any team most often they get 3000 points in 5 minutes
