I would also like clarification on this. I bought the digital guardian edition without hesitation and while I've enjoyed the game immensely, it did fail to live up to what I expected from the makers of halo.
If it's true that a new player can pay $80 for something that cost me $130 and they'll have items I won't, I will not purchase the new dlc. This is not an idle threat, I will stop playing if that's confirmed.

While I feel your pain, a certain drop in price is normal as products age. I bought a $500 3D printer last year and a few days ago I saw it on sale for $350. Don't think of it as them getting a better price, think of it as you paying $50 for a year of fun that they missed out on. Assuming you had fun during those raids with your friends, etc, if not than I agree that you should reconsider paying more money.

I think his point was that he should not be given less given the fact he actually paid more for the same content. Those that just want the Taken King DLC should be granted the same bonus content as long as they have purchased the other DLC. My Hunter has 38 days played. I don't plan on buying this DLC if other options don't become available.

I agree on that point. But I'm not sure we are thinking of it correctly. If they labeled it "Destiny 2" and it had as much content as the original $60 game, and said "and if you preorder you get Destiny 1 free!" would the price still seem unreasonable? (at least more unreasonable than the price was the first time around?)

Before they sold a collectors edition for 150 that was just the 100 version with a ghost toy thrown in.
