A Reason to Run Vault Of Glass Normal Mode
The last 8 or 9 times I've done a VoG raid, all have been on hard mode. Everyone seems to feel there's no reason to do it unless you're running HM. Well, I think I found a reason- I want my Vision of Confluence and I know why I haven't got it yet.
I read an interesting compilation of statistics on loot drops from both Normal and Hard Mode. [spoiler]http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/2l39z8/all_known_vault_of_glass_loottable/[/spoiler] It seems to suggest that Hard Mode, by increasing the chance of the Vex dropping, actually decreases the odds of other weapons coming your way. Vision of Confluence dropped 11% of the time on Normal, but only 8% on hard. I've actually been handicapping myself as far as getting this scout rifle. Perhaps we've become too accustomed to Crota, where primary weapons ONLY drop on hard mode, and forgot the rules of VoG.
So for people like me- who specifically want that scout rifle- the best bet is to run the normal mode, which has the bonus of being easier and even faster.
Statistics- they are your friend.
EDIT: I have no clue what the reason behind any of these statistics might be. But it seems to have worked. I got my Vision of Confluence, first try after posting this. It could easily be that my luck turned around and I was due, too. Strange are the ways of RNGesus. Let us praise and fear Him.

1 ReplyHard mode has the Mythoclast, sparrow, and helmet. That's 3 more items in Atheon's table alone. If you want a specific item you want the smallest loot table possible that contains it in a game like this where drop chances aren't ever weighted that much.

I have had 2 double VoC drops from hard mode and 7 or 8 single drops. Only ever ran normal twice and never got anything from them. Plus there is better chance at an exotic from the chest on hard mode then on normal and you only get one shot at an exotic from that chest, just like Deathsinger

This is true, I used to always run hard mode, always only ever got a vex, time breaker, and aspect of glass. Did normal mode twice this week and got a vision (I already had one from long ago) and two other people got one as well. VoG had a much better loot system instead of having almost every gun only awarded from killing one boss.

I've posted this before somewhere but yes because the loot table is bigger on hard any normal weps are less likely to drop. If you're desperate run one normal and one hard. But the boost isn't massive

However, by doing Hard Mode, you give yourself two chances for a Vision to drop, instead of one, meaning you don't have to run the Raid twice.

I got mine on hard mode on like the 6th or 7th run.

Got mine from hard mode on the first run. Was quite a nice surprise.

Dumb. And a waste of time. Just run hard over and over multiple characters.... It might never drop for you either way, but getting double rewards for one run beats all, including a 3% chance increase

I caqn't wait to get my VoC. I'm about due. Hopefully get a chance to run normal and hard mode later. It's the only gun in the entire game i need or want.
