Not surprised. The Vex and Infinity bug out and turn into standard fusion rifles occasionally. Seems to be a pattern with fusion rifles that behave differently. As you found out, just un-equip then re-equip.

Yeah, that didn't work whenever it did glitch and would only fix itself through death but for a round or two. It was certain games where it would happen and repeat itself until the game was over but it's been ok since Tuesday.
