Do you know why Raids had checkpoints? Because section had a separate reward, whether it be from accomplishing the section or a chest waiting in an area. PoE has one reward area (two if you count the Final Boss random drops). If you add checkpoints to PoE, everyone would: run everything with main character, switch out characters near final boss, wipe to save checkpoint, switch back to main character, finish boss, reap rewards THEN log onto other characters who only have to complete the final battles to achieve all the rewards PoE has to offer. PoE would be empty cuz everyone would finish within the first two days of reset. Checkpoints make sense when different sections offer different rewards and even then there were still many guardians looking to skip straight to the Aetheon/Crota fights cuz they had already gotten everything from the other checkpoints.
