Clanning is primitive and backwards

It's tribalism they're selling here. I like the thought of connecting to something more wholesome than a WreckNashon club where we worship some mlg douche. I thought we all had something in common but this like a middle school lunchroom. Clans are a thing of the past. This isn't yugioh or D&D and we can play the game more efficiently and protect our privacy better with matchmaking. We don't have clans anymore since the ku klux klan, and it's time to get with it and stop caring about narcissistic cliques. Clan leaders fear matchmaking because it's a better alternative and easier to play. Clans will likely lose many followers and participants if matchmaking comes because it's more convenient. Clan leaders fear the day that when they go to send invites, we'll ignore them because we are already getting to enjoy the activities without needing them anymore. No matchmaking has been a boon to twitch streamers as well. Lots of subs just tune in to get hope to be picked to run a raid or ToO http://www.develop-online.net/news/activision-pays-bungie-2-5m-if-metacritic-hits-90/0112064

  • Wow. You are an asshat. You're making some connection between the ku klux klan and a Bungie community? I've seen your posts and all you do try and stir up shit. Bungie in no way is making reference to the ku klux klan. Why are you even on the forums other than to make inflammatory statements like this? If I could I'd ban you from the forums. You don't even play Destiny, yet in other posts you complain about the game. Find another forum to lurk you douche.

I grew up in the Clan hay day, and I remember how it all started! It was the 90's, and a hot summer. Ice-T and N.W.A had gangster music video's on this thing we called MTV!. Being easily influenced, every white boy including myself went out and bought hot itchy plaid work shirts, and baggy pants, with the dreams of being in a gang, and being respected, letting everyone know how tough we were, cause we only buttoned up the top of our shirts. Of course this also trickled down to the Geeks and Nerds, who also wanted to be respected and feared in their own little world, but couldn't be bothered to get out of the basement. So they branded together to simulate what's it like to be in a gang, so they could live out all their fantasies of being in a criminal syndicate. But then GTA was released, and everyone was like "Ohhh this is what it's like to be in a gang" and Clans suddenly became irrelevant..

      • "Protect our privacy"? The only thing my clan knows about me is my PSN ID. It's plenty efficient to go into my clan chat, announce that I need partners for Crota hard mode, and wait. In less than 10 minutes generally, I have a team in orbit with me ready to go, and I know they're not going to be sitting afk waiting for me to do the raid so they can get the rewards- unlike what happens with random matchmaking. My clan members are known quantities. We may not be MLG good, we may not finish the raid in 10 minutes the way people on this forum brag that they do, but we have a damn good time and we're good friends. Were you turned down for membership in a clan? Is that where this is coming from? (Maybe they've been reading your posts? Maybe they actually like Destiny?)

        • ...I'm sorry, but is there a complaint here? 'Abolish Clans' or something? I haven't noticed any clan elitism. It's just a bit of fun. There aren't any negative repercussions to them existing. If you dislike clans, don't join one

          • Worse, these Clans are irrelevant. No rivalry options, no clashes, no teams fighting for bragging-rights... Especially now that ranking up only produces a mote.

            • So I get the argument for not having matchmaking for Poe for the higher levels but why can't there be an option. Why can't we just skip the pain of having to open the lfg app on our phones to do random matchmaking and just implement it in the game, it doesn't make any sense, it's the same thing.

                • My groups that I played with last month don't even play much anymore. A new clan every month just to play? No thanks.
